"I wanted that to change this year. This is a team, after all. That's the real nature of competition: Trying to improve your athletic performance and the performance of the people around you. Play as hard as you can. But I want the other guy to be good, too. [Against Georgia Tech], the opponent I was going against on some plays wasn't going hard. I said to him, 'Come on, let's go.' That's the way I want it. It's a positive thing for everybody.

Who wasn't going full speed?

Yeah, I remember telling Howie Long one time he wasn't going hard enough I really wanted him to punish me on national tv. Come on, this guy as a lot of these players need to keep quiet. Seems more and more dumb quotes are coming out these days. Whatever happened to just shutting up and playing the game.

Are you going to Tally?

Howie's interpretation of touch football was a slap to the head and then he would ask "would you like another" Nope not going to Tally, doing the cocktail party at friends but game will be on.

Cracker, I was at that game, and was watching Dorsey vs Poppinga on that play in particular.

I was very dissapointed to see the obvious lack of focus from Dorsey during that sack. Its an obvious passing situation, and Nat barely moved his feet or hands.

The next play, when he put some effort forth, he was able to fairly easily hold off Poppinga.

Overall, my amatuer eyes would like to see much more focus and leadership on the line from #70. Tremendous potential, but it needs to be motivated.

All in one idiots opinion, of course!

Gnome, I think GOL just like Jerry Glanville is a very good Def. Coord.
<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">That's what it seems to me, maybe that's what he should stick to but I would bet he will be back in Div 1 soon (he had a couple offers this past year but turned them down). I was just curious because there are so many who say Friedgen and O'Leary are gruff and hard to get along with, and even ex-players who say they dont like one or the other. But then you look at the record while the player was there and the facts are, the guys that "hated" 'em while playing for them, were winners on the field. I think that fear of getting it done perfectly so that Friedgen or O'Leary was satisfied worked. I think even Godsey said (again, hearsay) he didnt really like Friedgen, but hey, Godsey did phenomenal and may not have even liked his O-Coordinator. My point is, it seems like the fear of failure and accepting nothing less than perfect execution is my kind of motivation for these young players. You can respect the coach but you dont have to like him and you can still be Hugely successful like our 2000 season was under Godsey. What was it like as far as your relationship with the coaches? Did you really have to love the coach, or did that coach who new how to push you even if it grated on you help you more now that you look back on it? Thanks if you have a response

For the most part I got along with the coaches but my main and lnly motivation was the fear of Failure to myself, plus the way I looked at it was the guy I was playing against was trying to take food off my table and more so trying to embarrass me. That was not going to happen.
