What do you think about the 1st fb game @ ND game?

Bad news for us. I feel we're gonna win big and give ND a good old-fashioned butt-kicking. Based on past experience, this is not a good omen.

I think we're going to win. And not like I thought we were going to win last year, where I thought we would but I knew it wasn't the most realistic thing. This year I really do see us winning.

Our last few games with ND, last year in particular, shows we can compete with the Irish. But, you can play very well and lose an opener on the road at ND. Been there, done that.

I think the key is our O. Their offense will struggle with our D. If we score more than 21, we win. But, with a new QB and WR's and no Calvin, that will be the challenge. Bond will be our hero if we whip 'em about 24-17.

We'll win the first half no doubt. The defecit for the Irish will be at least 14 by half. All predictions are suspect for the second half. Weis will adjust. Will J.T. and/or Bond? THAT will be the key to the game.

Tashard Choice behind the O-LINE. I think we dominate on the ground.

Here's a non-GT preassessment of ND.

Everything is looking very down for them and very up for GT. I would almost be surprised if ND did not go into November with a losing record.

Don't forget that the ND coach has been crowned the super genius of football  and the messiah of Notre Dame. While our head coach has only been responsible for losses and wonders why if the offensive guy is an 'o', why isn't the defensive guy a 'd' instead of an 'x'.

I actually have high expectations for the first game, which like someone else posted, frightens me.

Wannabee,
Great cogent comment.I too believe we could dominate early but lose again.

I think that no matter what I say or do....it will have little to no effect on what will happen on the field......but i think we have a pretty darn good chance of going up there n winnin'.

I think Chan will play it close to the vest and hope to win with his defense in the fourth quarter. And we'll lose unfortunately.

If we play to win and open it up, we will win big. But realistically, that is not our current style and big wins only occur against totally inferior DL's that we have faced.

I can understand why you might say that based on historical data, however, we have a new OC and a different QB from last year, and historical data no longer applies.

I think we'll take what the ND gives us - whether it's pounding the ball up the middle behind a huge experienced Oline, or Tater tossin' the ball to a variety of receivers, tight ends and backs.

Historical data applies until it is the data is changed. We have a different OC, but the HC is still present. Chan lays down the game philosophy and the OC/DC work off of that. There is no reason to believe the same will nottake place this year. I am hoping Bond and Gailey prove me wrong on this; however, historical data supports my (and midatlantic's) claim.

VT's DL was not inferior. UM weakness was NOT their DL. Auburn's DL was pretty good when we played them too.

Sometimes playing field position is the right choice. It is almost always the right choice in the NFL. But in college it can certainly burn you. I'm hoping that Bond will show Chan when to go for the kill in the college game. Nix did a pretty good job of aggressive play calling. He just didn't know when to stop calling for the long ball.

I think people underestimate how potent an O we can have this year. Stout OL, talented RB core, and TB will pass and often, with some mistakes. ND has many question marks, with a young QB being one of them. I am hammering my pick in a suprising 14+ point victory. Mark it down.

WracerX, I meant big wins as in large victory margins. Our largest victory margins were when we played a defensive line that was inept (Syracuse, Tulsa).

Notre Dame may be a weakened team with all the changeover, but I doubt their DL is weak. Our OL has never "blown away" people, so I don't see that happening this game either.
