What has changed recruiting wise in the past week?

How are we having the success we have had over the past couple of days? Was it the FSU win? Is it that people are starting to get worried we'll run out of spots? Is Luallen just having crazy success talking to these guys, becoming the Ambassador part 2? Just seems like an odd time to be picking up large number of commits...

Regarding the filling up of spots - I know we have more offers out there than we have spots remaining, correct? Is it really first come first serve, or are their scholly's that are reserved for certain positions - meaning, will some positions get left out if nobody pulls the trigger soon enough, or will we have to tell some with current offers that their offer is no longer any good?

FSU was awesome, couple guys committed, and we've got more offers out there than we've got scholarships, so people have to get on the bus now before the door shuts.

I think the FSU game did a lot. There were a good number of recruits there, the game was exciting, the stadium was rocking, the fan support was nuts, and all in all it was a damn near perfect day of football.

Kids see what is happening and want to be a part of it.

The "JUST WIN, BABY" comments have crossed my mind this morning.

That comment would/has always come up.

Couldn't be more true than now: see yesterday's commits!

we are 7-2.

Under the old regime, we would most likely be 4-5.

This is the result of momentum that Giff Smith and Brian Jean-Marie have been building since 2006 when they started assembling the 2007 class and beyond. They are already working on 2010-2012.

The only thing that recruits were waiting on was to see if Paul Johnson would also be successful...and that his offense would lead to W's. The recruits have always felt good about the school, location, teammates, culture, and the defense.

These are pretty much the same kids we have been talking to for years.

1) Giff Smith is doing his thang
2) We beat FSU
3) players aren't worried about CPJ's system any more
4) available scholarships are being snapped up, leaving uncommitted players pressured into making a decision

If you think this is something, wait until December 12th. There will be around 100 visitors here, and by that time we might be down to less than 5 scholarships. First come, first serve.

Oh, and next year is looking great as well because we're only going to have 12-15 scholarships to give (depending on attrition). The 2010 class will be small, but it will be full of quality players.
