What if Oklahoma destroys Florida in the National Championship? Do you honestly think the media will cover the lack of talent in the SEC this year (I HIGHLY doubt it)? Because I sure as heck know that if Florida destroys Oklahoma, the media will be so far up the SEC's rear-end that they will have to be surgically removed. I am wondering why ESPN hasn't gone ahead and created a channel to only SEC football. I find it shocking that ESPN was all over the story in week 1 about how much the ACC sucks and how awesome the SEC is, but they totally neglect the winning record that ACC schools have against SEC schools at the end of this season.

It seems odd to me that we determine the best team in college football by saying that if you defeat Florida or if you defeat OU, then you are the best team in the country. OK, if that's true, then we should also be giving trophies to Texas and Ole Miss. Texas beat OU on a neutral field and Ole Miss beat Florida AT Florida. The past two years, all you had to do was beat The Chokeioh State University to be considered the best team in the land ... does this make any sense? If it does, then I feel sorry for your children and I hope you have nothing to do with the future decisions of college football.

In all fairness, the 6-4 record was mentioned on gameday yesterday.

The biggest problem with how the ACC did in the beginning of the year was the timing: it was the beginning of the year. There was almost NOTHING else to talk about, so the story got hammered into the ground. Now, the NBA and NFL are in full swing, and there's a lot less college football coverage going on.

If you think the Cotton bowl is neutral then think again. It's right in the middle of the Texas state fair and it's now where near neutral!

Everything I read said it was pretty neutral, and that the stadium was split right down the middle.

True, but the cotton bowl gets about twice as many Texas fans as OU fans. People from OKI City buys up blocks then sells them at the game for big $$. OU can not escape the Texas crowd no matter how they try. Me, I'd never play in Dallas. Lived in Austin for many years and that Texas crowd is something to behold.

OF...how many Red River games have you been to, while living in Austin? I am betting 0. I HAVE been to them -- been to 3, as some of my family are season ticket UT's for about 30 years -- and the stadium is pretty much split in half for those games--and my family tells me that pretty much is the case every year.

Hard to tell on the pics, as crimson is pretty close to that burnt orange.

See also this pic.

Also -- distance from Norman OK to Dallas Texas -- 190 miles. Distance from Austin TX to Dallas TX -- 190 miles. Do you call the GA-FL game not a neutral field because it is in Florida???

The Big 12 was uncovered the NEW method to gain top conference status:

PLAY NOBODY early, get lots of teams to go undefeated and then play each other in the last four weeks only. Regardless of real power, it makes you look like you have four or five powerhouses.
