we beat UGA,Clemson and WF.We travel well to the OB for the game vs Louisville, and beat UL.Now,would CG still have interest in Miami? Is he disgusted that we win 9 games yet only take 5K to the GB? Is he disgusted that the fan/alumni base is not 100% behind him? Is he wanting to leave Tech more than wanting to be named the new Miami HC? Will we ever know all of these answers?

Chan Gailey is an intelligent and wealthy...

man. I am sure that he understands that no GT football coach can lay an egg against our biggest rivals and have 100% buyin from the fan base, especially the alums. I don't think he is trying to escape as much as he is pursuing the bigger paycheck. In that he has alot in common with the actual fan and alumni base!;)

WHAT IF???

Why not what if us into the National Championship game, too? Then, Gailey would be a god and surely not consider any other job. Then again, what if.

What if Reggie Ball could fly?

What if Patrick Nix could bend steel bars with his mind?

What if Duke had scored 12 more TDs in every game this season?

What if Hitler had been a successful artist instead of a psychopathic totaliatarian genocidal dictator?

What if God had skipped a few fruit fly species and instead invented lasers, 8:00 AM, Day One?

What if Austin Powers had not stopped Dr. Evil and his genetically-modified angry Sea Bass?

The mind boggles.

My turn to agree with you Geetee. This is as pointless as asking, 'What if' O'Leary never bolts for Notre Dame?

I don't think Reggie needed to "develop better" as much as he just needed to quit choking under pressure. There's no doubt in my mind that Reggie was the better practice quarterback.

The point is that I think we could have won 12 games, and probably

beat Louisville with a RB who played like the coaches thought he could back in August. As sour as the last month has been for GT fb,you have to realize we were very close.

I don't know this, but I would imagine RB was a better practice QB because he probably practiced a better tempremant in practice. There was no opposition for him to jaw at, which would cause him to lose cool and focus, thus causing his mindset to severely affect his overall performance. I mean, he could be like that all the time for all I know, but I can't really see him carrying on like that against his own teammates.

Of course that's pure speculation, GT65, but I wouldn't be surprised if you were right.

Reggie was an amazing quarterback when he was cool. I said flat out before the UGA game that our victory depended on whether or not he maintained his cool. Said it here in Stingtalk. I could find a quote if you like.

Reggie was simply uncool. Even UGA players commented on it, postgame, how he was getting frustrated and kicking at other players in the pile.

I remember your post concerning RB's temperament and how it would correlate with the outcome of the game. No doubt you were correct.
