I have already seen posts trashing candidates and there has not been a game played.

There should be ONLY two criteria.

1. Character
2. Winning

It is ridiculous to read some of the posts. I want the blue one, ....no give me the greeen one, oh no I will take the yellow one.

Once you take character (cheating, lying, and etc.) off the table is their ANY coach that you will support if we continue to lose to ugag (and other big games)?

And isn't the reverse true? Is their ANY coach that beats Ugag (and other big games) that you WOULD NOT support?

To be critical b/f the games are played is ridiculous. While I understand preferences it is unbelievable how some are trashing coaching candidates.

*I do accept that character issues should be brought to the forefront

For the past 6 years, many have proclaimed, as Law_Bee, that our priorities are:

1. Character
2. Winning

Character is a fine, noble thing to talk about having but as Gailey will testify, that priority order wasn't quite accurate. While most of us aren't ready to sign on Mike Price, I believe a more accurate description would be:

1. Winning
2. Winning
3. Winning
4. Don't embarrass us by being caught in a compromising position.

We tend to be conservative. We have some very nice candidates with proven track records.

Rad will be taking his buddy with no track record. I have never seen a DC promoted to HC who's defense got better. He will have far less time to spend on it. And the expectation is Giff as DC so we won't have a proven DC.

Frankly this has crash and burn potential all over it. Rad better know that going in only a good OC will keep this from blowing up in his face. Way back when he decided on WM he should've seen it. So I hope he structures the agreement with a lot of cash for a top notch Offensive staff.

With Hewett stinking up the joint, his job depends on it IMHO.

So you want to improve our defense? We'll have a new staff no matter who we hire, except for possibly a few hold overs. Get over it.

So how is that Stoops thing working at Oklahoma? You know defenses never get better when the DC becomes a head coach

At least bring some substance when you come to this board, not some uneducated emotional crap.

Thanks for the pleasant response.

A limited search shows that Stoops built the #1 ranked D at Kansas State in 1995. Then he went to UF and won the MNC. I don't know what the rank was. Then he went to Ok in 98.

His D was 18 this year. It's still good, but not as good as before. I suppose it would make sense to go back to circa 1999 2000 to see if he slid sooner versus later.
