What is wrong with this scenario?

The highest ranked ACC team is not in the championship game (GT) and VThug is 25th and BC is 18th or so.

This really shows the respect voters on the polls have for us (GT) and don't really care about the ACC (the championship game). Just MHO.

The polls tend to have a "what have you done lately" flavor, while the ACCCG is based on season standings. If we played VT like we did Miami and UGAg (meaning we got rid of all the fumbles), we would have beat them and would be headed for Tampa this weekend.

well, we were ranked just below those teams coming into the weekend, and beat a team ranked 11 or 13 or whatever. since they cant move them down too much, but must put us above them after we just beat them.

so we move up a bunch and they stay about the same. so it boils down to Georgie's (inflated) high ranking

Everyone knows we're the best team in the league, but we didn't get it done early (refs), didn't get it done in the middle (let's not talk about it) and didn't get it done at the end (exhaustion, injuries, turnovers).

GT had the same ACC record as V Tech, but didn't have a 4th loss to East Carolina (not to mention a laundry list of shaky wins....GT, UNC, Dook, Nebraska, UVA). They are 2 bad personal foul calls from being 6-6, 4-4.

yeah but this is a similar scenario as two years ago when we did go to the ACCCG. VT was the top ranked ACC team and didn't go to the game because we beat them and won the division, and we were unranked after the UGAg game (in the AP). Granted we outright won it and they are relying on tiebreakers, but it's still a similar situation.

I don't think we can blame anyone but ourselves for not making it (well, maybe the BS calls in the VPI game, share part of the blame).

I think this situation is just a reflection of the fact that this is a young team, that has progressed MUCH since the first week, but has also regressed a couple of weeks.

I wish we did it like the SEC. If someone is more than five BCS spots above you then they get to go instead.

Maybe we just need a different tie-breaker. Head-to-head if the game was in the 2nd half of the season, BCS ranking otherwise.

;)

That's only in the case of a 3 way tie where the division records are the same(ie all earlier tiebreakers fail). We wouldn't go in this scenario no matter which conference we played in.

I think whining about tie-breakers in this instance is pointless.

WE LOST TO UVA! AT HOME!

All we had to do was win that game and tie-breakers didn't matter.

Better the players learn that than back-door their way into the ACCCG through some half-assed tiebreaker.

And I think we lost the last 11 at VA, I'm planning on heading up next year for that one.

We have lost 8 in a row at Charlottesville - last win was the 1990 game.

Our record in C-ville is 2-9-1.

Nothing. We lost to VT so they deserve to go. Simple as that.

It takes a whole season to get there. Are we the best team in the ACC right now... yes. But losing to UNC, VT and UVA is our faults. (Though, we have an argument for a botched call in the VT game.) But the end all-be all of this is that we didn't win when we needed to. Think about this, 6-7 wins more than almsot everyone was thinking... you aren't going to see me complaining!

Go Jackets! THWG!
