What might have been...

I know everyone is upset that we lost but at least we found a QB. This should put to rest once and for all any question of whether or not RB was the best QB on the team. Clearly not. I think Bennett surprised everyone today with his poise and accurate throws. He made a costly mistake, yes, but he kept us in the game. He was the Man. I only wish we had a head coach with some common sense.

Finally, back to the game, what the hell was CG thinking kicking a 54 yard FG in the rain? I actually think he should have gone for it on 4th and 9. TB was making alot of clutch throws and the WV secondary sux. Oh well, another year with little to show.

Taylor Bennett looked good, choice looked good, calvin looked good, o-line looked good.... defense looked F-ing AWFUL!!!!! Tenuta is as stubborn as he is brilliant! But having said that, Tenuta is allowed a mulligan considering what the offense has done for him the past couple of games. Just too bad our offense and defense can't ever show up on the same day, that's all I want before I leave this beautiful world! Will I ever get it? Who knows. Who cares. It's just another game with a lot of bright spots (Taylor, Choice, Calvin) that results in a loss. I'm personally tired of moral victories, but u guys react however u feel necessary, I'm disgusted by the post game interviews in the locker room with W.Durham just praising and praising and praising!!!! We lost again Wes and Chan, I don't want to fire anybody( although we BETTER make a special teams change this offseason) but maybe I would like the coach to be down in the dumps like I am and forget about all this moral victory sh**!! I'm from the south, I come from a competitive family, I've always been taught to win, win , win!!! Am i taking this the wrong way or should I expect the win???? :o I'm embarrassed and heartbroken again that my Ramblin' Wreck, although played tough, LOST again.

No. 9-5 is what was. At least 12-2 is what might have been.

This season was probably the mother of all missed opportunities.

Yes it was, no doubt about it. How often has GT been in position to win a conference title and play in a BCS bowl. The opportunities have been few and far between.

Yeah, 9-5 is same as 7-4- pathetic when you consider what shoulda been in the worst ACC ever, lose to UGA, lose your last 3 games. All things considered, Dan Rad will say- this is not what we are looking for- FLATLINE- out of our football program.

Disagree. I think the 2001 season wins that distinction, but only by a thin margin.

What might have been? We finished 9-5, end of story.

I grew up a Michigan fan and will therefore be damned if I hear someone on my side say they're satisfied with 9-5.

I need BCS games and ACC championships. Anything less is unacceptable.

I was proud of our team today though, we're taking a step in the right direction although we're not quite there yet.

I am satisfied with the step in the right direction for the entire program, but will hope for more in the near future...How about that?

I can understand heartbroken, but why would anyone be embarrassed after yesterday? That was a hell of a team we were facing and except for about a 10 minute stretch in the 3rd quarter we were right there. Special teams and the inability of our defense to control them cost us the game. But we got down, went up, got back down and had 2 opportunities to win/tie. Disappointing but a pretty good game to watch and compete it.

What was embarrassing was the lack of a Tech crowd. That was essentially a home game for WVU.

2001 gets a HUGE pass for obvious reasons.

Why, because that is a coach you don;t want to criticze?

I think that 1991 is actually when we missed some huge opportunities. We fell to very mediocre after a natinal championship. Worse then that, our biggest rival beat us after finishing with a losing record the previous year. That is a significant turnaround, one we have never recovered from in the series with the dawgs.

Can't be all that obvious, since I can't think of any specific reasons....

'91 was hugely disapointing as we squandered a chance to build on the MNC.

You don't recall a certain event forcing us to have a three week layoff in the middle of the year?

You don't buy into excuses about anything else, and obviously there were winners despite the circumstances. Why not go ahead and give 2005 a pass too since we had some kids whose relatives were affected by Katrina.

Not by a long shot now. This one took the cake. Worst ACC ever, weak UGA and having a shot at the ACC Championship against Wake Forest of all teams!

I dont give a rats about '91 or any other anymore. This moron lost to UGA and Wake and didnt even try to play this kid for the last year. At least freakin have the best players on the field to give you the best chance to win. There isnt a single excuse he can give (and he wont because never accepts responsibility. He a good christian, but not a smart one and not one that ever accepts responsibility)
