At 16 commits as of 11am today (that could change by the time I get done typing this, hehe) here's our position breakdown"

A Back - 2
B Back - 1
WR - 2
QB - 1
OL - 4

That's one dude shy of an entire starting offensive squad. I really like the concept that we could have 10 seniors starting in 4 years.

CB - 1
S - 1
LB - 1
DE - 2
DT - 1

I'd like to see more progress on the defensive side of the ball, recruiting-wise. We're thin here too.

So talk is we can only take 22, and we might hold a few back for next year anyway, so maybe we only take 20 total this year, leaving 4 slots left. Are all those slots going to the defense? Or maybe we leave one slot for Hood on O and the rest D?

I don't want to end up in a situation like when Ralph was here, where we don't have enough dudes on defense, and Ralph keeps stealing the good dudes we do have on D an putting them on O.

We will take 1 more OL, PJ wants 5 in this class
I would expect at least one more QB

that makes 18

they will try for another DT - 19
then 4 spots could be more random based on best available. I would like 1 more LB and 1-2 more CB/S type....Through in maybe another B-back?

That many more on O?

We're thin on D too, and if we don't take them this year we won't have that many slots to use on D next year.

Hood would have to be that final OL player

I expect Cross to pull the trigger soon.

I think that Dalcourt and Aycock are ours

That is 20.

I'll give us Myles and Sims before it's done

22

And one more from the following:

Euclid Cummings
Ricky Johnson
Jonathan Davis
Andre Civil

Gentlemen, that would be one hell of a class...

We're thin on D too, and if we don't take them this year we won't have that many slots to use on D next year.

Judging by the depth chart, the only place we're thin at on D is DT - with Richard/Walker/Anayaibe all graduating. Michael Johnson is the only other starter who is a senior. Tony Clark is the only SR on the 2-deep. Travis Chambers and James Liipfert are SR but they are 3-deep.

PJ has stated he wants 2-3 QBs each class and 4-5 OL....just going off his words.

And I wouldn't turn down Aycock if he said he wanted to come here :)

Yeah, but of the three QBs, only one will probably end up playing QB. The other two will probably end up being DB/WR types.

Unfortunately....and the coaches are disappointed as well...but there are no DT's out there for us left that fit GT. We will have to rely on four guys...three of which are young...next year. We will also have to use some different combinations based on the situation....may include Morgan, Peters, and Hall out there together.

I really think we are done at AB and will only take one more OL...either Hood or Johnson. We would take either Toney Williams or Dominique Allen...but not both...nor would we offer any more BB's.

I really think Braxton Lane and Ricky Johnson may get slow played...not that Braxton Lane would play football anyway as he will likely go MLB. I also think we may back down on Proctor...just my opinion. I do not even think we will push Gilliard that hard...again...just my opinion.

That means we have between 7 and 9 spots left assuming we keep the 16 we have committed.

For the most part, we will take the best athletes available. We really need to get Sims and Aycock on board...at least one of them.

17-19 still being recruited with GT offers:
QB David Sims (soft to Kentucky)
QB Dontae Aycock
QB Courtney Dalcourt
QB Everett Proctor (soft to NCSt)
BB Dominique Allen (soft to Tenn)
BB Toney Williams (soft to Tenn)
AB Braxton Lane (MLB probable)
WR/QB Ricky Johnson (soft to Arkansas)
OL Daniel Hood
OL Wesley Johnson
DE Andre Civil (soft to Rutgers)
DE Euclid Cummings
DE Izaan Cross
LB/RB Jonathan Davis
LB Mike Gilliard (sfot to GA)
LB Nigel Mitchell-Thornton (soft to TN)
FS Darren Myles
* There are one or two others that are current commits elsewhere we are talking to and have offers.

Who is Sims?

We'd take Aycock at QB instead of AB I assume.

..and Lord Have Mercy, do we need more than 2 DEs in this class? You seem to think we might take 4.

If we limit ourselves to 21 schollies given out this year, in anticipation of the "big year" next year, and go just with what you've picked out there Mustang, then our distribution looks like this: (unless I booched something)

AB - 2
BB - 1
WR - 2
OL - 5
QB - 3
(13 on O)

CB - 1
S - 2
LB - 1
DE - 3
DT - 1
(8 on D)

...and that's without taking any of the final four.

Such a discrepancy between D and O, especially in the secondary where we're really shallow this year, concerns me a bit.

One safety and no corners. Grr. Hope some of those QBs can play defense.

I think thats the hope. QBs for this offense who don't pan out will probably be athletic enough to play DB. Realistically we're probably only going to end up with 1 QB out of each class that actually plays QB.

You keep forgetting who we have on the depth chart brother.

SECONDARY:
Reid-frosh
Butler-soph
peterson-frosh
Jasper-soph
Frierson-Jr
Burnett-soph
Reese-soph
Taylor-frosh
Edwards-soph
Leslie-REDSHIRT
Riley-REDSHIRT

Then you bring in recruits....

Sweeting **Commit**
Thomas **Commit**
Sims---could play safety
Smith---could play safety **Commit**
Myles
Dennis---could play Corner **Commit**

WE ARE PLENTY FINE in the secondary.

We already have Sweeting as a CB committed...and we have Jemea Thomas (CB/S) committed. We are still in the game with Darren Myles (S).

We have 7 returning CB's next year in addition to Sweeeting. That is four deep at each spot.

We have 6 returning Safeties next year in addition to Thomas and/or Myles...also nearly 4 deep at each spot.

We are fine.

I think our secondary is going to be awesome in the coming years, not because of direct CB/S recruitment, but because of QB/Ath types. Perfect example of this is Cooper Taylor.

True...but he was recruited as a FS all along.

Your point is correct though.

Yeah, but of the three QBs, only one will probably end up playing QB. The other two will probably end up being DB/WR types.

not disagreeing, but the 2-3 QBs will get a shot at QB first....

Yall are making me feel all warm and fuzzy about 2009 and 2010.

I am most worried about the D-Line.

Without a doubt...the DT position will be the one that needs the most development before next year.

Even with experienced players in waiting, there would be a drop off after Richard and Walker.

Next year we will rely on 2 freshmen, 1 sophomore, and a junior.

I am not as worried on the edges with Morgan (pre-season All-ACC in '09), Hall, and Peters.
