4. The Coastal Division is WAY open. We know how much work the Hokies have to do, and the fact that UNC almost blew it against McNeese State isn't exactly reason to crown Butch Davis king of the Coastal. Miami and Georgia Tech did what they were supposed to do, and Virginia? Good luck this year, Cavs.

5. Yes, Paul Johnson's offense will work.
Here's the difference between PJ and RichRod. One can't seem to figure out how to use "his offense" with the players he inherited and the other, Johnson, knows how to adapt and win football games with what he has. If the Yellow Jackets have to throw it to win, so be it. If the triple option is the best option, they'll run with it.

I agree with both points.

The Coastal is definitely wide open. If we play our cards right, we might have a shot at this thing earlier than we expected. I think if we can steal one of the next two while the offense is getting set, we might have a chance at our division.

I was in the stands for the Clemson/Bama game last night, and I noticed a few things. First off, the Clemson D-line can absolutely NOT stop the run. The Bama O-line didn't even look overly dominant, but Clemson just couldn't stop it. I think this bodes well for us, especially if the O-line can get it together by then. Although no one's seen FSU, I think this weekend has definitely put Wake back in the driver's seat in the Atlantic, at least for now.

It's gonna be a crazy season.

Whole article is pretty good. I cited it in another link, with that same quote about Paul Johnson.

I also like her later blog article bashing Clemson.

I admit it. I was wrong. All summer, I was the staunch defender of the Tigers -- give them a chance. Let them work themselves out of the rankings and expectations.

On Saturday, they had their chance. And they blew it. In embarrassing fashion.

The main difference in this game? Nick Saban.

Saban had his young players ready for what should have been prime time entertainment. Clemson thought it was going to come in and play four quarters. Alabama was ready to win in one.

"The responsibility of getting the team prepared is mine," coach Tommy Bowden said, "and I didn't do that."

No kidding.
