Asking Tech fans not to be anal is... well... ok, next point: I think a lot of this "Duke scares me" talk is actually a good sign.
Back in prior administrations, Duke really did scare us but we were too scared to admit that we might actually lose to those mutton heads which, on occasion, we did.
Now, I think deep down, no body really believes we can lose to the team that basically serves as an opening act for basketball season. We are, after all, a TWO TOUCHDOWN FAVORITE for Gawd's sake.
So I think all this spleen-dripping emo crap is more about trying to add some drama to a game that, by the second half, will be about as dramatic as watching the scoreboard timer count down to the end of Duke's so-called "run." We need something to keep us interested until the Clemson game so why not invent some drama where none exists?
I actually prefer that to the attitude of say the parasite hosts to the east where the outcome of the season is a pre-ordained prophecy and each game is little more than a "I hope to effin Gawd we don't effen lose to thes effin Morans" event.
Ultimately, the type of confidence that you rightly confer to your fellow Tech fans is justified. But consider that its been a while since that has been the case. And, like the team itself, we at least acknowledge the possibility of losing because it helps keep it from happening. I think it does help jack the crowd noise which, if nothing else, the players appreciate.
