What's funny (sad) is that... (part 2)

the Old Dominion Head coach is being lauded for pulling off the upset of V-Tech. The networks are showing the "icing on the cake" 44-yard TD-run by some big fat ODU running back. Meanwhile... ODU had clinched victory the play before and there was 1:45 left on the clock - and V-Tech had no time-outs left. All ODU had to do was kneel down and run the clock out. Instead they actually ran the ball - smartly (I believe) V-Tech let the guy score (aforementioned 44-yard TD) and then had a chance to score 2 td's in the last 1:40 seconds - sure an extreme long-shot - but better than having a 0% chance if ODU kneeled down. So, instead of being fired for being an ABJECT IDIOT (who probably makes close to a million dollars a year) the ODU Head Coach will probably be given a lifetime contract with a huge buy-out. Such is the stupidity of college football...

It's reasonable to say they should have kneeled down, and that's what I would've done if I were the HC. But there are still muffed snaps and stupid kids who get cute and lots of other things. So I can't blame them for taking points. I'd say you're being a little harsh for a guy that just orchestrated the biggest win in school history and the biggest upset of the season so far.

Oregon just did the exact same thing and ended up losing to Stanford. Crazy.

That was a great game. But it was 2d down with a 1:00 to go when they ran the play that resulted in the fumble, and Stanford had a TO still. So taking a knee likely results in giving the ball back to Stanford. It made sense for them to try to get the first down.

Looked to me like the guy ran right over a good portion of the team on that run. Give some credit where it is due.
