after Tech beats Duke to win 3 in a row - everyone here will be talking about the "dramatic resurgence" of this year's team. Tech will be 4-3 - talk will be of a bowl game / going 7-5 and with a little luck Tech could beat Georgie!

Then Tech will lose at Virginia Tech and everyone will be back to HATING EVERYTHING including: the program, the institute, the head coach, the assistance coaches, the stadium, the uniforms, the players (lack of focus), their wives, their kids, their job, their house, their lives, their everything!

Such is the pathetic life of a true sports fan - especially Tech fans - me included!

Nothing you said is going to happen.
If we go 7-5, Paul should go but won’t.
If we go 9-3, Paul can stay but I still don’t like him.
When we go 3-9, Paul should go but won’t.

eat a sack lunch off my taint

In case you missed my point - this post wasn't about Tech winning it's next 3 games then losing to VT.

It is about how insane we are as fans. Durrrrrrrrrrrrr.

It is insane for you to expect different behavior from fans. How you feel every Saturday is completely dependent on the result. Win and you are delighted, lose and you are angry, disappointed, and discouraged. There are precious few enjoyable moral victories. Balanced thinking by fans comes into focus about 48 hours after the game.

Yep. People are bad at taking a long view of things. Lose 2 close games we should've won in a row then lose to the #3 team in the country and suddenly the sky is falling

Long view: 2 wins over UGA and one BCS bowl win in last 4 years

Chan Failey did none of those things in 5. With Calvin Johnson.

It's called the availability bias, and it goes both ways. People are also very bad at assessing the value of things they already own. It is a phenomenon called the endowment effect. Compounded, they describe a great deal of our inability to accurately judge our own coaches.

Psychologically, it is what it is.

Or, it's never as bad or as good as it seems?

It’s almost like some people just see the final score of those games and think theyre respectable results instead of actually watching the games to see just how awful we are in every aspect.
