RichRod is coming in and running the spread. Mallet has already stated he's going to transfer.

Threet has already wasted one year waiting will he transfer to a better system and wait again. :wow:

i was wondering the same thing. Even if he had stayed at tech he would be leaving now. I wonder where he will go now or even if he goes.

Except for the occasional Peyton Manning type player, it seems most teams are going to some type of dual threat QB. It is harder to defend QB's that can run and pass. Just look at us. Best years lately have been with a mobile QB. Jones and Hamilton. Except for Matt Ryan, our defenses usually destroyed the stay in the pocket passer. Rivers, Miami, Auburn, etc. Our past staff demonstrated how hard it was to develop a pure passer. With the exception of Calvin Jonhson, our passing game has been anemic the past few years.

Does anybody know if he sat out this year and transfers now, does he have to sit another year? I mean that is ridiculous but it may be the rule I don't know. If he could transfer he should look into Tennessee where Ainge is leaving or Kentucky where Woodson is leaving. Go someplace that runs a pro style and has a QB on the outs.

I could be wrong but I believe I remember that in extreme cases in a coaching change, you can file a hardship. Still, like I said, I could be wrong.

That is not true at all. It's not "most" teams by a long shot. Just look at the teams in the ACC. Not a single team this year had a consistent dual-threat starter. VT had Tyrod Taylor, but he didn't start all the games. FSU had Xavier-Lee, but he was platooned. UVA had Sewell, but I am not sure how mobile he was.

I remember somebody posting rumors about transfers said players could transfer without missing a year in the case of a coaching change. It wasn't true at all and I've never heard of it.

Hardship transfers also need the approval of the school the player is transferring from. I doubt Michigan would approve the "hardship" of a new coach.

Yes, but the ACC hasn't exactly been an offensive juggernaut conference lately.

Give RR a year or two, but Michigan will blow thru the Big 10 before the rest of that league makes the switch.

I agree, the RR offense is going to be tough to catch up with, particularly given the make up of the Big 10 in general. I thought that WV was easily the most entertaining team to watch all year, and believe that what Rodriguez is going to do will make a significant impact on the league.

Sewell was a legit dual threat QB, and was largely responsible for UVA vastly exceeding expectations this year. Tyrod will start a lot of games in the future for VT.

That said, your point still stands that a majority of ACC teams do not feature a dual threat QB.

I think I read somewhere that that only applies to freshmen, i.e. coaches leaving/then transfer

when he left, I mentioned if his reason for leaving tech was due to nix leaving, then when he gets ot Mich and carr is fired...what is he going to do?

Prophetic, lucky, whatever you call it...that happened...and now a purely pocket guy with no mobility may need to transfer again and eat 1 year eligibility IMO

IRONICALLY, what happened here, he wouldn't fit here either. So hindsight his transferring was a good move...just not to Mich.

I think he will go D-IAA, so that he can play right away. I am sure there are plenty of schools up there that would love to have him (although Ohio is OUT).

Can a player go to I-AA and play right away? I didn't think that was allowed. I thought it had to be Div 2. Of course, did Andy Hall play right away when he transferred to Delaware? Either way, Threet should find him a lower level program so he doesn't waste another year on the scout team.

He could get a good education at the Univ of Michigan on their dime. Or he could transfer to some wild-assed 'wacky' style prog like Wyoming or something and throw footballs all over the place.

I'd have to recommend Hawaii. Pass happy, in the medIa spot light right now and HEY! IT'S FREAKIN HAWAII!
