What's the rule for why we didn't kick the extra point?

Good luck finding a free spot of grass for the kick. The students wasted no time in getting on the field. You can see the push coming from the back of the student section in the ESPN broadcast clip.

Beestorm not satisfied with our margin of victory apparently

I believe the rule is that the PAT does not happen if it has no effect on the outcome of the game.

I think we'd have to kick or at least take the snap if they within 2, right? That is how the NFL works at least.

So if our lead had been 1 point, we would be forced to kick it so FSU would have a chance to block and score for 2 points and win?

So in that case we just take a knee..

and no I wasn't satisfied. I want the freakin point.

There is no competitive advantage in kicking the extra point. For player safety, it is by rule end of game. This was also the case for the Maryland game when they scored as time expired to pull within 40 or stte

Correct. In college, it is not required.

NFL rule is different. Xp is required regardless of score. This eliminates any funny business when it comes to gambling.

Not true. XP not kicked if unnecessary in NFL as well. To DISCOURAGE gambling, or so they argue.

So I guess a two point conversion would be out of the question too, right ... :BFD:

Falcons had to kick the extra point after scoring a defensive TD in a 27 point game against the Texans. They chose to take a knee.

In the NFL, the attempt for extra point(s) is required after a touchdown scored during the regulation (i.e., not overtime), because points are used for some tiebreakers in the standings. Rarely, this can result in such an attempt having to be made at the end of the game when it cannot change the outcome of the game. If the game is in sudden death overtime, the extra-point attempt is omitted if the winning score is a touchdown. In American high school and college football, it's likewise omitted following a touchdown on the game's final play if six points were enough to win or if the scoring team was already ahead or can not win or tie the game with a successful conversion attempt.

Rule 8-3-2-a

The ball shall be put in play by the team that scored a six-point touchdown.
If a touchdown is scored during a down in which time in the fourth period
expires, the try shall not be attempted unless the point(s) would affect the
outcome of the game.

It's not clear if the six points only puts the scoring team ahead by one or two if the try has to be attempted. Common sense says no.

Because the NFL endorses gambling?

The opposite (or so they say). Can't tarnish the shield.

Of course, they endorse daily fantasy is ok because it is just "a game".

It is simply a rule so that professional coaches cannot affect the point differential. In theory, they could go for 2 and take a knee but they do have to run a play.

The winning team in the NFL should have the option to not run the try, since they're the only ones hurt by a lower point differential. If you're up by more than two, then I would go ahead and kick the XP for the 0.00001% chance that it changes a tie-breaker.

I agree. I was just answering the question. You are talking about a league that has rules about how high you can pull up your socks.....

Common sense says yes. If the team has a 1 or 2 point lead, the try SHOULD have to be attempt the try. It is possible for the D to return the ball for two points, therefore, however unlikely, the scoring team should have to take the snap. Now they can take a knee, but they should have to take the snap.
