Does it seem like in the main 3 GT sports (FB, mens bball, and baseball) that our offense and defenses for each sport perform unequally every year?

Football... good defense... horrible offense
Mens Bball... good scoring team... terrible defense
Baseball... got hitting team... pitchers are either suspect or terrible...

Am I the only one that sees this or do you guys agree with me? It seems like every year this crap happens and its getting old... Like everytime I watch a GT game, if GT has a close lead in any sport with not much time left, theres a hunch in the back of my mind that knows that GT is gonna cough up the game and give it away... We've seen that alot in mens bball and a few times in baseball and football over the past few years.

Gosh, maybe we should all quit pulling for Tech. I mean if we cannot win every game then why even play?

Every team goes through tough stretches and sometime it seems like you never get the breaks. Good teams make their own luck!

Shoot, as a Braves fan you every wonder why after all those division championships we only won ONE World Series? Or why the Buffalo Bills could never win the big one? Its called sports, and I bleed Gold and White, and think our Football program is on the right track. Our basketball team will improve and our baseball team has been awesome for some time.

Go Jackets! Dang, I need a beer now.

You could say that about most programs in most sports. College teams simply don't have the practice time, experience, or roster freedom to perform adequately in all phases of the game. The few who do are the year-in year-out top 10 teams. Georgia Tech simply isn't one of those in any of the big three sports...yet.

Why does it ALWAYS have to come to this?

Most of the good high school pitchers go pro.

Not necessarily true. Most are not going to go straight from HS to the majors, but will have to put in some time in the minor farm system. They'll be getting paid jack while they're at it. Getting some scholarship assistance while working toward a college degree is usually the better option.

However, not all kids are college bound. So the scouts will tend to focus on recruiting the kids that show little interest in college, and back off on those with decent GPAs and doing the university tours. That's not to say that they don't try to form personal connections and keep tabs on some prospects through their college years.
