Georgia Tech middle linebacker Philip Wheeler has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for games the week of Sept. 30.
Wheeler, a junior from Columbus, Ga., was the defensive star in Georgia Tech's 38-27 road victory over Virginia Tech. He had eight tackles - 2.5 for loss, including two sacks for 22 yards in losses. His forced fumble proved to be one of the key plays of the game.

The guy played one heck of a game! He should have been recognized before but it was hard to not to recognize his play during the VT game. One of the best defensive plays since Larry Morris!

Thanks GT Dean, I'm mighty glad to see this happen.

I also want to say he is mighty deserving for it.

I just have to refer to him as Eighteen-Wheeler from now on. But I still like Human Homing Missle...

GTstar9,
I admire your imagination and direction. You may add "Magnum" to your list if it qualifies for Wheeler, and if you can get a rhyme out of it.

Remember KMike also had a monster game. I wasn't sure about our LBs this year after losing Gerris, but we have reloaded. I still can't get over their speed.
