I assume in a marketing attempt to build excitment we'll try to land a big-name program for PJ's first or second home game so we can make some more moolah. We'll need to justify the added annual increases in the Tech Fund now.

Have Alabama and Clemson agreed to play in the Dome yet to open up 08? If not, perhaps we could agree to play them in the Dome. that would build off season excitement.

Alabama would be cool, I think that team has two things going for it from our perspective:

1) Name
2) Beatable

But we've already got Mississippi State and UGA on our schedule next year, if I recall correctly. I like playing SEC schools, but 3 in one year is a bit much (from a variety perspective). I'd like to see someone who we wouldn't normally get to see much of in these parts. Hawaii is a name that jumps to mind but I think the financial incentives for them to leave the friendly confines of Aloha Stadiums usually have to be pretty steep.

I think it is the 2009 or 2010 schedule that has Miss, UGA, and Vandy.

Turns out the internets are my friends and this information is available on the newly designed ramblinwreck.com

2008:
Jacksonville State (August 30, what a crappy birthday present for me)
Mississippi State (September 23)
ACC Home: Florida State, Virginia, Miami, Duke
ACC Away: Clemson, Boston College, North Carolina, Virginia Tech (wow, guess the two visits in a row thing doesn't work both ways. F**k you ACC they hate us)
@ Georgia (November 29)

By the way, the 2010 home schedule is a s**tshow.

I'll let you check it out for yourself.

You think VT is excited about playing LSU now? They probably were at the time but if you replace that game with some "lame" lower D1-A school, they're in the BCS Championship game this season.

A GT prof I believe creates the schedule for the ACC. So, I think he may have been the one who sent us to B'Burg two times in a row.

I heard that the Bama/Clemson thing was essentially a done deal.

No, it's our POS conference. Us getting screwed by the ACC is not limited to football.

True, but we probably could have done better than Jax State and MTSU and had a very winnable home game.

I also thought the 2010 home ACC schedule was pretty crummy as well though.

Trying not to call you a dumbarse..

Our going to VPI twice was to even out home and away ACC schedules...

Without it, we would have had 5 ACC home one year, and 3 ACC home the next.

Dr. Nemhauser generally handles basketball scheduling for the conference, and I believe is a consultant for MLB.

There are many reasons the conference office sucks; this is not one of them.

Let's bring SMU/TCU to Grant Field.

Huh. I'd been asking this question for three years and this is the first good answer I've gotten. Ok.
