I watched a replay of the 00' game at Clemson today. We absolutely killed them with the the short outs and comback routes. Godsey threw many of the them before the receiver made his break. I don't understand why we didn't use that approach more often yesterday to move the chains. By the way, Suggs has a lot stronger arm than Godsey did. I wasn't convinced until I watched the tape. Godsey sure was good at finding the open receiver and delivering the ball accurately and on time though.

those were timing routes and I believe Clem's son probably did everything they could to take those away.

But then the go routes probably would have been open, but the weather and the lack of time to throw the ball hindered this

I am not exactly sure what Billy thought they were going to do or maybe he was worried about the weather b/c it just did not look like a GT game.

Well in some ways it was like MD last year. We just never got it going on Offense.

It seems to me that you shouldn't be able to take away the timing routes, the deep ball, load up the line of scrimmage to stop the run, and rush the QB effectively. That is exactly what Clemson did though.

Nope.........they specifically took away the out patterns. We did a very poor job of adjusting and taking what the defense would alow. We should have run the ball until tye strong safety had to come up to support the run and then the middle of the field would have been wide open for passes
