Which ACC HCs will \'feel the heat\'?

Here's a nice little item from the Raleigh News on the subject. I think that Amato, Friedgen & Bunting get another yr, no matter what, because they are at their Alma Mater. Roof is a different story. So sorry, Ted. If the roof caved in, T.Bowden, Gailey & Grobe would be in the worst positions, but they have their programs in better shape than Amato, Friedgen, Bunting & poor ole Roof & are therefore less likely to have the roof cave in.
As a side note, notice the really light non-conference schedule each of the 'hot seat' HCs has this yr. There should be a lot of ACC teams qualifying for Bowls this season. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

ACC HCs on 'hot seat'

Re: Which ACC HCs will \'feel the heat\'?

I saw off the bat, Amato and Bunting...If Maryland has another subpar year then Friedgen will be on the hotseat the year after as well as Roof..no matter how bad Duke is, they have a breaking point too but I think you need at least 6 years to make a difference there..

Regarding Duke, other than high school facilities I don't understand why they have to be as bad as they are. It sure isn't because of the academics.

It is certainly not an easy job to get that program turned around at least to mediocrity, but it happens at plenty of other places with far less tradition.

Maybe it is that they really don't care about football.

Back in the 50's and then again when Spurrier(SP) was there Duke had many good teams. I remember in the 50's when Duke was rated in the top 10 and even ahead of Tech until Tech put a whupping on em in Durham.

Re: Which ACC HCs will \'feel the heat\'?

The suspects for feeling the heat in '06 will be everyone but B. Bowden, Beamer, Coker, O'Brien and Grobe. Coker will feel the heat next year if Miami drops 3-4 games.

T. Bowden seems to just do enough to carry on, but the heat is there. Friedgen and Bunting had <.500 years after showing some promise earlier on. Gailey has a new AD to impress but has some talent, we'll see what happens. Groh's teams seem to disappoint year after year, despite some talent.

I think Amato is on the hottest ACC hot seat right now. As for Roof, I hate to say it but it's just a matter of time there at Duke, another season like last year's and he may be the first to get blown out.

No way... Fridge goes ont he Hotseat after having back to back 10 win seasons and an Orange Bowl appearance. No way... Maryland loses Fridge and they go right into the tubes. At least with Fridge they are competitive.

Unless Duke loses to Richmond, Roof will be okay for at least another year.

Seriously, I hope that CU can cope as well as possible after the lake tragedy.
