I just spoke with the daughter of a QB who played from '49 to '52. They called him the kid w/ the "golden arm". I know the name which I will gladly give, but wanted to see if any old timers or roster junkies knew this guy on the Dodd team. Said he knows the Maloof family.

Wasn't it Darrell Crawford, in lieu of Jimmy. I guess Pepper Rogers was a backup QB in the 1952 timeframe.

That is correct. His daughter came by my office and saw a picture of my daughter in Tech gear on my wall. Sparked some conversation. Obviously, she said he was all about GT football and still kept contact w/ players, including the Maloof family. Mostly small talk, but I told her that I would love to have the chance to talk GT football w/ someone who was part of the "golden days". Anyways, it made my afternoon.

I have never been able to prove if this was true, but a quarterback from that era was playing once and Dodd was yelling "throw it, throw it!". This particular QB then proceeded to throw the ball at Dodd at the sideline. His career didn't last long. (He was related to that family you referenced.)

You know as much, if not more than I do. I hadn't heard of him from that era. Anyways nice lady, and spoke very highly of the GT community.
