With the departure of Groh and arrival of Ted, it is pretty certain the 3-4 will be scrapped as the main defensive set. The question becomes, what do we do with our approximately 800 linebackers?
Roof has used smaller edge rushers before like Nick Rogers. Who might be moved to add depth to the DE spot?
Crenshaw is an obvious choice. Former DE with good size.
Marcordes and Menocal have the frames to beef up. Drummond might get a look.
But a surprising name might be Sneezy. Currently listed at 6'3 240, he could be a hybrid guy that rushes 75% of the time, but has the athleticism to drop in zone blitz situations. Maybe not full time, but it allows Watts to get more snaps at linebacker. Sneezy had the most success attacking this season. I think he isn't as instinctual as the other 3, and gets lost on his run fits from time to time. Moving him to DE on obvious pass situations could give us the pressure we have lacked since Morgan left.
Thoughts?
