It seems most people are ready for a change to be made after this season, so I'm curious to see who everyone likes. Who would your choice for HC be?

Make your choice and tell us why you picked who you did. If you choose other, please tell us who you prefer.

Of this list I like Gary Patterson.

But, I have a few others I would like to see in this list
Bobby Johnson at Vandy
Bobby Petrino (believe it or not I am hearing rumblings he may not be a good NFL HC fit)
HC at South Mississipi
HC at Troy (blakeney)

I don't believe Peterson has had time to prove himself. He is still living off Hawkins legacy and kids
I would prefer to not hire a Coord. I want a NCAA HC with experience..

Bobby Johnson at Vandy

One of the criteria IMO should be that the fans believe the new coach has a possibility of getting the job done. That rules out anyone from Vandy.

I'm hearing this also. As I'm sure you are aware, his name has been linked to any potential Auburn vacancy.

Not sure if he would be a good fit at GT.

If Petrino ever came here, which I can't imagine would happen, he would be gone within several years. He is a coach that seems to be looking for the next big thing. If he were to be successful at GT, he would find that next big thing. If not successful, he would be gone anyways.

Not to mention his ethics being in question and his understanding of GT life outside of football. He would not be a good fit.

I like Gailey and have been as patient as I can be. I understand that he wanted to install his own offensive system. And that he needed time to recruit the players to run it. He has overcome a lot with flunkgate and probation. I think until this year he has shown slow improvement.

But this year is a definite step back to the win some, lose so rollercoaster. I think he has demonstrated that he can coach a bad team up to an average record. But he doesn't have what it takes to turn a good team into a great team. Some coaches do, some don't. Ohio State fired a good coach who couldn't take the next step from great team to NC level team.

We need a coach who can keep the team focused the entire season. I think PJ from Navy can do that. I also think that our recruiting in state will improve (and it is already good) with him at them helm.

And for DRad, I will continue to buy season tickets and support the team, regardless who the coach is.

Why do you say that? This guy is a good coach at a horrible school and has had more success at Vandy than any HC in like 30 years? He is much like Grobe in that regard.

Secondly why would anyone have any more confidence in Paul Johnson? Bobby had a heck of a program at Furman, much like paul did at GA Southern.

u are probably right.

The more you read about PJ, the more there is to like. Can you imagine how hard it must be to recruit at a service academy - during a war? He is the opposite of CCG - the more you read about his coaching, the less there is to like. From everything I hear CCG's charisma makes you have to like him. Like him all you want - he should be coaching in a program where a .550 winning percentage is considered great. That place isn't GT.

I voted for Paul Johnson. Here are a few reasons why:
1. Been very successful everywhere he's been (2 Nat'l Championships at Georgia Southern, 4 straight bowl games at NAVY)
2. Already knows his way around Georgia and already has relationships built with HS head coaches for recruiting, having previously been at Southern
3. Used to having recruiting restrictions even more difficult than ours
4. 10-1 record against Navy's main rivals, Army and Air Force

any poll should include Tater Tot to be realistic. He is the best proven unemployed candidate out there whether you like him or not.

To you guys that want to continue to punish him for mistakes that he made in his past, I would love to have my investigators crawl up your ass with a microscope and make you pay again and again for all of your past sins...

To sum up, you elitist nerds that think he isn't good enough for Tech need to wake up and smell the coffee. The question should be is he willing to put up with a fanbase that contains a massive amount of no football knowledge armchair quarterbacks.

Fans are going to look at Vandy and scream "mediocrity" and they're going to do it the moment the guy sets foot on campus. He could be the best coach in the world, but we should never hire him, because the potential for the fans to get behind the replacement is a key factor for the hire.

Not saying he's not good, saying he doesn't fit due to how the fans view him.

Paul Johnson is good. I wouldn't mind Grobe. At least he's got an ACC Championship and a BCS bowl under his belt. :) Grobe will bring his whole staff with him, though, which means we lose Tenuta and all our recruiting coordinators and whatnot who've done so well, plus it'd be a major setback in continuity.

Of all the talk so far, I think our best value and our best hope for few to zero bumps in the road would be to promote Tenuta.

Tater Tot is an imbecile.

.

You're kidding, right? TaterTot. Oh, my word.

Grobe ain't gonna leave Wake for Tech. Ain't gonna happen.

Paul Johnson is who it should be.

He had two good seasons with Pat Dye's players and a heap of off the field problems.

I'm just not seeing the attraction.

This fixation with Terry Bowden is comical.

Petrino was making $2.5M at Louisville. Are we going to pay that much?

And Petrino is not, N-O-T, taking a job with recruiting restrictions. Just like O'Brien, he would turn us down flat as soon as he heard about the recruiting restrictions. After he got through laughing, anyway.

What is Tater Tot proven as? He had a couple of decent years with other coach's players but couldn't recruit at Auburn? How can you not be able to recruit at Auburn?
