Who would you choose for Weis to start at QB?

  • Clausen (assuming he's healthy) - the hot-shot FR will all of the tools
  • Sharpley - the grizzled veteran, the game-manager
  • Jones - the dual threat "athletic" QB, probably some serious questions about his passing ability or else he would've been named starter by now
Which one gives GT the best chance to win?

Jones gives ND the best chance to win. A running QB might slow up our pass rush a bit.

Clausen would give us the best chance to win. I think he would be more likely to mistake our blitz/coverage packages and throw a few INT's.

qft

We're pretty damn good at season openers, and pretty damn good at making newbie QBs suffer. Lets hope the ND faithful overhyping Clausen poisons Weis's ear enough to where he leaves Clausen in for at least a half.

Munch munch.

I am not really worried about any of them but I do believe that Jones is their best chance to win.

I think that ND will rotate between Sharpley and Jones to try and keep us on our toes a little bit. Clausen will not be a factor the only way I see him playing is if ND is way up or way down.

So we will probably see Clausen play most of the 4th as GT should have a sizeable lead by this point.

If and when we win, the victory is going to be downplayed all year long as "Notre Dame did drop their opener to the Yellow Jackets, yes - but keep in mind that -=insert declaration of their quarterback woes=-"

I hope that whoever they pick comes out and does really well and our defense just throttles him. I want to win this won and be credited for it.

On the other hand, I imagine that if we thrash them and have a good season, there's not really that much downplaying that can be done.

If Clausen plays more than a little against us, it means:

1. He is the greatest QB ever to hit the field.
2. The other QBs are hurt.
3. ND has a huge lead and we're not moving the ball.
4. Weis has lost his mind.

Notre Dame does not have a good team this year and should start 0-3. I'm not sure what kind of credit you think we should get for beating them.

What I'm saying is that I want to beat them handily and have them have a better year than is expected.

two things:

i'd start evan sharpley. i think that sharpley will best handle the pressure and blitzes of the GT defense, and i think he also has the best arm of the three right now (until clausen's gets better).

i think that weis will use a combo of sharpley and DD in the game, though... i think you will prob see more of sharpley, but DD will definitely log some meaningful plays.

secondly: the clausen thing is pretty stupid. he was in a car, a 23 yr old guy goes and buys some beer and gets back in the car. clausen and another freshman are cited b/c they are in the same car as the guy. back when i was in school, i gave guys rides to the supermarket if i were going and they picked up beer when i was under 21. i had no idea that i could've gotten in trouble for that. i doubt there are any real reprocussions though.

I can remember a cop making me pour out a case of beer because both me and my passenger were underage.

It is completely retarded that someone can buy a Glock but not a Guinness.

Knox, considering that Notre Dame will be fielding a team from some HIGHLY rated recruiting classes.......and GT will be opposing them with players from very LOW RATED recruiting classes, it would seem that ND has a HUGE edge in TALENT.

Why should ND not WIN easily, IF....... as everyone seems to think....they have the superior coach?

Thinking big picture, long term, he should start Clausen. The Irish are not highly regarded this year. Clausen could be a great 3 to 4 year starter at QB. Why not throw him in from the get go? As a Tech fan, I would like this option, to get a true freshman in his first game. But, long term it is the right thing to do.
