I see ALL these GT fans stating how the Clemson game is the toughest?

I don't get it?

We beat this team w/ last year's and year before's GT team. Clearly we are superior this year. Big Fridge had a good scheme and a 14 pt turnover and kickoff return to keep this game close.

If we play like we have the past 3 wks (absent kickoff, turnovers, and missed FG's) we should handle this Clem's son team.

They lost to BC and Wake had them beat then gave the game back to them.

Of course we COULD lose if we turn it over multiple times.

Clem's son has to have run. We probably have the best run D in the country.

The game being on the road may be advantage. For some reason CG's road jackets are superior to home jackets. ALL the really big wins (less Awwbaawn) were on the road.

The line seems like it is coming together and Nix keeps improving every week. I see us winning by 14.

Miami will be the toughest game and NCST may also be tougher than Clem's son.

Lol. Have we played a game yet without either kickoff woes, turnovers, or missed FGs? Seems to me we've had one or more of those three every game so far,

I agree 100% that if we play flawless football we'll handle Clemson easily. But *nobody* plays flawless football.

Oh, and our run D is a specter. Sack yards come off the run total in college. If they didn't, we might not have held anyone under 100 yards this year. As it is, we've held everyone except ND under 100 yards, because of sack yardage.

Clemson is a better team than NC State. The Clemson game, like all our games, won't come down to not making any errors, it will come down to how many major screwups we commit, and whether we can overcome those screwups to get the win.

we are ranked near the top on run D and ALL TEAMS use the same criteria.

We have played TWO TOP TEN TEAMS. If we avoid the 100yd kickoff return and calvin/reggie/tashard does not fumble we will win the game.

I am not talking flawless. I am talking about errors versus MD that we did not make in ND, UVA, or VT games.

If we play like we did in those games we will beat Clemson.

Proctor will be in for a VERY LONG afternoon versus Tenuta.

Proctor AIN'T Brady Quinn

We will see but I do not see Clemson any tougher than Miami or NCST.

The fact that we have won 2 in a row versus that team is all I need to know. GT is playing MUCH BETTER this year.

Clemson is a damn good team, and probably has the best O-Line in the ACC, and will give us a game. I think our secondary has grown up enough that we won't have a terrible problem with their receivers, but they will be running the ball well on us, and I hope we don't, but I wouldn't be suprised if they move the ball on the ground pretty effectively. I think and hope we'll win, but they'll be far from a pushover and we'll likely be playing them again in Jacksonville if the rest of the games play out the way they look like.

Maybe we're better on the road because our team hears less boos?

Hehe.

Actually, I haven't noticed any boos this year, except for officiating. I'm west stands, south 20 yard line. Have boos been a problem elsewhere in the stadium?

My take is that Miami is really struggling in the passing game and that the frosh tailback that is emerging now will make or break that team. Wright will have to play well for Miami to beat us.

NCState has found some star RBs and a respectable QB and could be a real challenge for us no doubt.

The fact is Clem has had WR injuries that have changed the face of this game significantly from three weeks ago. They had All ACC candidates at WR, QB and RB. With two big time recievers out, will other guys step up for Clemson? (I mean seriously how would we look without either Johnson catching passes)

Considering the Clemson injuries, NCState could possibly be the most talented team left on our ACC schedule. However Clemson's coaches are far and away the best of the remaining staffs we will face and that one reason to respect them.

The other reason to respect Clemson so much is that they are next. We can respect NCState and Miami more later!

I agree with Lawbee, we have had Clemson's number ever since they blew us out in 2003. Everyone please remember that they will be missing Chansi Stuckey, one of their playmakers, due to a broken foot.
The one thing I am worried about for this game is their running game, despite our good run D stats. One of their games this year they had three running backs who each ran 100 yards, although that was probably against one of the pancake teams that their schedule is filled with this year.

Clemson and Miami both have more talent than Maryland. They both have good QB's and lots of speed. They both scare me to death especially in Death Valley. They both know what is at stake. IMHO they both have more talent than ND also.

Clemson is the best team we've played so far because they're the next team we play. They run the ball well, they pass it well and their defense has it's moments. If we play well we're in good shape. If we play like we did against MD we may be in trouble. But this Tech team can beat everyone left on our schedule if we perform like we're capable. We can also lose to most of them if we don't.

I was optimistic about the VPI game because VPI started three new OL in their first game against a real defense. After the Maryland game, I'm not so sure we'll be able to get to the QB with the much better Clemson OL. As Utah showed, the zone blitz can break down spectacularly when you don't get to the QB.

Maybe we'll be able to score enough on offense to overcome it, since my grandmother scored on their D, and even worse, FSU has also scored on their D. I bet it will be yet another exciting GT-Clemson game, although Clemson's OL and QB do worry me.

Tommy Bowden is NOT a better coach than Coker. This guy lost to wake two years in a row and was down to Wake for 3 quarters this year. This was the "payback" game.

TB has had talent numerous years and underacheived. Fridge had a GREAT scheme that gave our D problems. Fridges play-action pass was the best I have seen in years at BDS.

Our D was froze by a 5th year QB that ran a great fake. That will not be the case against Procter.

The D we throw at Procter will be more intense than anything he has seen this year.

We may lose but it WILL NOT be b/c Clem's son is Great team. I guarantee VT beats Clem's son.

we have had Clemson's number

I would NOT call beating them on a miracle fluke, then beating them by less than a TD, "having their number." We've certainly won, but both of the games the past two seasons could have gone either way.

We had 5 sacks agains MD so I'm not sure what that point was about.

We seemed to give up a bunch of 8-15 yard passes on Maryland's three field goal drives. Maryland's QB was able to get rid of the ball in time to get it to those guys.

That's what I'm worried about in this game, with Will Proctor and Clemson's OL. Well, he did throw a bunch of picks against Wake, so I could also just be too pessimisstic.

Well, the theory is that if you force him to only complete 8-12 yarders, and you hold him to 60% completions, but a quarter of all his passing attempts end in either sacks or interceptions...

...you've done pretty good.

And that was our number. 4 sacks, 1 pick, 1 grounding call. 6/24 = 25% That's our defense. Dare them to throw and reap the rewards when the dice come up.

I believe I said 'Staff'. Coker's staff right now is not as good as Tommy's. Good enough to overcome the HC.

For instance, I think Richt is as good a coach as Fulmer. But IMHO the Tenn Staff is better.

I thought prior to the season starting that Clemson was the toughest game on the schedule. They have been playing well this year with the OT loss to BC their only blemish thus far.

By stating this looks like the toughest game on the schedule it does not mean that I don't think they can be beaten. I certainly think GT has the better team and can come out on top. That being said, I do expect a battle.
