WHY are people happy?

I will tell all you CG bashers out there why MANY are very happy.

It is like when your 6 y/o son runs a race against 9 and 10 y/o's and finishes a close second.

If you look at the result you are still a loser, BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THE BIGGER picture I think you know the future is bright.

Well while we won't know for SURE until a few more games it looks like we have an incredible coach.

And if we whip Clem's son and you people still don't get it then I think you all are a bunch of IDIOTS. IMO

AMEN...

After the dismall conclusion last season, and an even poorer off-season... what we are watching before our eyes is a near miracle and something that no one could have hoped for...

1-2 and a real potential to be 2-2 with wins over a SEC perenial powerhouse and a heart stopping loss to BCS regular FSU... nobody wants to play the JACKETS right now...

No matter how the naysayers paint it, this team is lightyears different than the Jackets of the past 2 seasons... walking the walk on 'D' and the joyful exuberance of a youthful QB who possesses a calm that comes with experience only make us TECH faithful proud and anxious for each and every Saturday this fall...

Two weeks ago TECH season ticket holders walked into BDS/ Grant Field with dour faces and the lowest expectations of any season in 10 years...

Next Saturdays second home game will find Jacket fans eager to watch the team BEAT Clemson...

Last year foul weather and poor execution doomed the YellowJackets... there will be none of that on September 20th as the Jackets sprint on the field to a loyal and rowdy home crowd...

Jackets 24- Clemson 15

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">What will happen if Tech stumbles against Clemson? Personally I can't predict a victory as many on this board are starting to assume because Chan Gaileys offense has done nothing yet. Hopefully Reggie Ball and Co. can get its rear end out of second gear and put some touchdowns on the board. With Clemson throwing the ball almost exclusively out of the no huddle they could find the endzone and slow down the clock at the same time. The sure thing would be to nail Charlie Whitehurst if he decides to run some of them draw plays they was running against Middle Tenn. State. I don't think the backup Chansi Stuckey would be comfortable running this type of offense. The defense will have to carry us again and until Chans offense proves it can score touchdowns. I hope you and the many you represent are happy after saturday night.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I think most folks are banking on us scoring on Clemson's D. Clemson's D has done nothing yet to prove they can stop anyone. At least GT's offense has scored more points (30) vs. F$U and Auburn's defenses than the rest of their opponents combined (Aub 23 & 3, F$U 3 & 0). And GT would've put up over 30 pts on BYU if not for 4 TOs (3 by SRs) in the redzone.

Don't know about the 'idiots' part of the statement (I have to assume that anyone that survives Tech has a few neurons wired correctly). But the key point is well taken... give these guys a chance. I hate 'negative waves' as much as any true optimist would. I echo the sentiments of the masses on the board that it does not help current player morale or recruiting. Please be patient with the sports program and take that into consideration when posting.

I will personally not be a fair weather friend and will proudly support my school... WIN or LOOSE!!!

Darn, I feel better now... I enjoyed this little therapy session immensely.

W..H..Y ????? I'll tell you why!!! Before the season and after the BYU game I figured the program would barely have a pulse right now after getting pummeled by AUB and FSU. I can't believe I'm sitting here thinking this team has a chance for a bowl game and we have a QB that MAY remind us of Lil Joe one day. No, we are not out of the woods yet but I'm sitting here after three games biting at the bit for SAT night to roll around expecting to WIN when I thought we would be dead in the water at this stage.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">By the way, I wouldn't exactly say I'm happy after losing to F$U (I was probably more than happy after beating Auburn). I would say I'm optimistic because we've played well so far and seem to be getting better. We really need a win this weekend to keep the momentum moving in the right direction.

I'm not "happy" but I am "proud" of the effort I
saw in the Auburn win and the FSU loss. I don't
think we can overlook ANYONE on our schedule but
I think if we can maintain the same intensity and
preparation of the last two games we'll be well
within reach of a 7 or 8 win season.

Clemson will test our pass defense this weekend.

We'll very likely need to score more points and
control the clock better than we have in past
games.

Stateline, maybe I misread your statement [I hope you and the many you represent are happy after saturday night.], but do you want us to win Saturday night?

The statement tends to indicate you hope Law-bee and the fans he represents are happy after Saturday night. You seem to be exempting yourself from the group.

Is this really what you meant, or have I misread the statement?

I guess it is about expectations.I thought we would struggle big time on O,maybe on D and kicking a joke.
WELL- we have an O that is only going to get better if no one gets hurt. The Def is exciting and a MAJOR problem for every team on this schedule. The kicking game has been the biggest pleasant surprise.
The fact is that we have a real chance against every team .what more could you ask at this point?
