Why are people so into playoffs?

we we went 12 or 13-0 we still wouldn't be national champions...and then you'd be crying for a playoff.
exactly, people seem to think this is just Boise State's problem. Look at all the recent years we had 2 unbeaten non-ACC teams and we would be crying about not being in the championship game.

The first 12-13 games of the season are a playoff game!!!

The SAs have a right to determine the championship team on the field in head-to-head matchups, not in the heads of "analysts" in the media.

People are into playoffs because they are the fairest way to determine the champion.

The one issue that gets overlooked about a playoff is that it won't end the debate about who gets in. You can include the conference champions, but there will continue to be at-large bids. There will be some teams that win their last 10 games in a dominant fashion and argue that when the playoffs were set, they were one of the top teams in the country. There will be teams left out because the strength of schedule wasn't up to par, even though they only lost one game. I'd like to see a playoff, but I think there would still be whiners and arguments, unless you make it a 16 team playoff. I don't think 4 weeks of playoff games after conference championships would be feasible in college.

1. This point has been made to death, and the answer is always "teams 9 and 10, or teams 13 and 14, or teams 17 and 18 have less of an argument than teams 3 and 4." Think about basketball. Teams whine every year about getting snubbed. However, when they expanded the field, the majority of people were and still are against it. People are gonna complain. Too bad for them. That doesn't mean we shouldn't have playoffs.

2. It is pretty feasible, especially considering every other division/subdivision does it...

Make it a life choice to stop using this tired, idiotic retoric. If every game were a playoff game, then teams wouldn't go undefeated, and still not make the national championship game. Period.

This is what we should do though... As soon as you lose, your season is over. Maybe that's what he meant by the first 12 games are playoff games.

hence the reason for 65 teams in the BBall tourney with teams STILL bitching and moaning about not being included.

there will always be complainers, its just how valid their arguments are. BSU and TCU had pretty good arguments, but if Bowling Green or Akron start complaining that they went undefeated and didn't get into the 16 (or 32... :ugh:) team playoff, then we've reached a point where we can give them the finger and say "join a better conference"

+1. and what about teams like LSU and Florida (and GT for that matter) who didn't win all their games but still won titles?

it's all about how hyped you can make the voters about your team right now, which is kind of a sh**ty system.

Every GT fan should want a playoff. We run a very different offensive system that would give a very big advantage in a playoff, if we got in. Teams would only have a week to prepare. Right now as it stands if we were to get into the MNC game the other team would have a month and a half to prepare.

Playoffs are why CPJ won championships at GSU, plain and simple.
