that UGA and Notre Dame will be playing for the National Championship come New Year's. Things have a way of coming back around in the world of college football (there are several examples of that just with the Yellow Jackets in the past year...see Stanford and coaching change).
.
Can't see anyone favored to beat the Dogs or Irish. Luck is part of it, but they both have put it together.
.
However, an upset in Athens would be legendary for the White and Gold.

Air Force has a great chance at home vs. ND next.

Notre Dame is getting lucky winning with no offense, i highly doubt they will beat Air Force and FSU. Also, either Va Tech or Miami should go undefeated. I hope UGA in #2 in BCS conme mid November then Tech goes between the hedges and stomps them.

What a way to end a season, beat an 11-0 UGA headed to the BCS. Now that is ice cream on top of the cake.

The only thing standing between UGA and a trip to the NC game is GT and the SEC championship matchup- most likely LSU. All the cards have fallen perfectly for UGA. They have been EXTREMELY fortunate. They've made it thru the hardest part of their schedule with extraordinary luck (turnovers-South Carolina, opponent injuries-Tennessee-Clausen, survived bone headed calls-going for it on 4th down against Clemson and UT) and everyone left is very beatable (including us). Ole Miss hasn't beaten anyone except Florida and Florida is in a complete tailspin, Auburn is mediocre, Vandy doesn't have a prayer. Kentucky might have the best shot because they are capable of putting some points on the board. If Chan ever wakes up and plays Bilbo, maybe we would have a shot at them too. It's amazing that UGA may be able to walk thru this regular season unbeaten and they just aren't that good....makes me want to puke.

IF ugag does make it to the National Championship they won't be playing ND. Either Miami or VT. But I really don't see ugag going undefeated. Looks like if they make it to hotlanta they will probably be playing LSU. Just don't see them going 13-0.

As much as I hate to disagree with you Buzzilla I have to. Ugag is a good team. Their OL are all seniors and have unbelievable athletes on both sides of the ball. If they are going to do anything big this is the year. But wouldn't be sweet to beat them in Athens 11-0?!

Ugag isn't a "bad" team, they just don't deserve the ranking they have. I would submit that they would lose against the following teams that share the neighborhood they currently occupy:
Miami
Oklahoma
Virginia Tech
Oregon
Texas
Iowa State
Iowa
further down the line, they'd also lose to:
Florida State
Air Force
K-State

They "could" beat:
Ohio State-over rated
Notre Dame- plays tough, not enough talent
Michigan- Not enough offense
NC State- might be closer than one would think, but I believe they are over rated right now and UGA's defense would shut Rivers down.

Washington State, LSU, Penn State would be a toss up.

If you believe the AP polls, they've beaten two top 25 teams-Alabama (#25) and Tennesse (#16). They have 1 game remaining against a top 25 team in Ole Miss at #21.....so, as I've said, all the cards have fallen their way and if you can get far enough to make it to the big game, anything can happen.

They are definately a top 20 team, just not top 10 and sure as hell not National Championship material.

I see UGA playing LSU in the SEC Champ game... and think they could still slip up between now and then... they have been extremely fortunate, but sometimes it takes that... in a way, and dont flog me for saying this, but I almost wish they would win the NC, the only reason being that maybe then we could finally put the 1980 season to rest... I have never seen a school get more mileage out of a NC than Georgia has gotten out of that one... its embarrassing...

The win over Tenn wouldnt mean much to me if I were a Ga fan tho... the fact that Tenn was in the game late was a discredit to GA... Tenn played with alot of character and almost won with a "reserve" lineup... As much as I want to beat FSU, the win wouldnt mean as much if the key starters are on the sideline.. I would want to win the game toe to toe...

If I had to pick a team to win the SEC today, I would pick LSU...
