Why isn't Texas Tech #1?

How come when undefeated #5 Texas beats undefeated #1 Oklahoma, Texas jumps to #1, but when undefeated #6 Texas Tech beats undefeated #1 Texas, TTU only goes jumps to #3 (coaches), #2 (AP)?

Because Joe Paterno coaches Penn State. If TTU continues to go undefeated with this schedule though, it's going to be tough to keep them out.

I think even a two loss Alabama team would stomp Texas Tech and Penn State.

I think TT would give Bama a run for their money. Did anyone see the heights and weights of their OLineman? My God they are absolutely massive. Maybe the biggest Oline in college football history. Their guards were both 6'7" and 6'8" and both over 350lbs.

I wouldn't mind seeing Texas, Oklahoma, or Texas Tech playing either Florida or Bama in the title game. I also wouldn't mind seeing the one that gets left out of the BCS Bowls beat the ever loving $hit out of u[sic]ga in the Cotton Bowl.

Texas Tech's OLine:

OT: 6'7" 305lbs
OG: 6'6" 335 lbs
C: 6'3" 292lbs
OG 6'7" 354lbs
OT: 6'6" 325lbs.

There are very few Dlines that are going to have success against these guys.

TT # 2 BCS. Don't wanna see Penn State in there...

Penn State is suffering from a weak Big Ten. Their biggest win (Ohio State) just can't stack up a win over Texas or Oklahoma/Ok St. With that in mind, you could probably make an argument that Bama's schedule hasn't been the toughest compared to that of Texas Tech...

Completely agree. I was happy they jumped Penn State. NO ONE wants to see a Big 10 for the next decade in the BCSNC game.

As great as TT looked yesterday at HOME, I don't
believe they survive undefeated with whats left on
their schedule of OK ST & Oklahoma, not to mention
the championship game. If they do, give it ti them.

Not taking anything away from the Red Raiders, as that was as good a 2 minute drill as I've seen, but so far their overall schedule cannot be called "tough". Their non conf games included Eastern Washington, UMass, SMU and Nevada. Now, the Texas game started their tough part of the schedule (with Okla and OSU to come). If they can survive that, they'll be in good shape.

Also remember, a #2 BCS ranking gets you to the Championship Game too.

Nothing will force a playoff faster than the big 10 champ getting left out of the BCS championship game.:laugher:

We need them to get shafted. The big ten commish (I forget his name) is one of, if not the, biggest opponents to a playoff due to his (and the Pac-10 commissioner's) thought that this is still 1929 or something, and the Rose Bowl is the greatest thing ever. Seriously, their ties to the Rose Bowl is the biggest reason they oppose any type of playoff.

Bama is over rated and will lose at least 2 games this year. Florida, for one, will beat them by two touchdowns.

Penn State's out of conference schedule: Coastal Carolina (I-AA, 4-5); Razed Temple (3-6); Syracuse (2-6); and Oregon State (5-3).

They didn't play world beaters, even if that slate is far tougher than the Big Televen.

Nothing in Penn State's out of conference schedule justifies jumping them ahead of Texas Tech. If Texas Tech wins out, they should get the nod over Penn State. They have the most exciting offense in college football. In a few years, we'll give them a run for that title, and may even pass them.

I think we'll see something like Alabama vs. Texas Tech for the BCS Title. Penn State will be undefeated and then we'll listen to the incessant bitching from Big Ten fans for the next forty years about how PSU was the real national champion and they shouldn't be held accountable for the failures of Ohio State and college football owes Paterno and blah blah blah.

There is very little chance both TT (Ok and OSU) and Alabama (Florida) win out. It could happen though, I'll be rooting for that!
