Why, specifically, will we be better coached

in 3,4,5 years than we are now? What will change if anything? Do some think everything is fine with the way our S/As are disciplined, motivated, taught now? Why or why not?

How will recruiting be better than it is now? Or is it fine now?

I try to look at things as openly as possible. I am angry as hell after a loss but being in athletics in a big way for 40 years reminds me to enjoy the game as a game. My point is that I try to fairly look at all issues.

My answer to your post is multiple fold:

1) It doesn't matter now so if you're a Tech fan, support and move on.
2) Having said that, please be a little fair. Flunkgate would have destroyed most programs in the country. Teams like Miami that have gone on probation took five years to recover. Flunkgate did the same to us. I am personally excited because I think Chan did a good job to win a few games considering the shackles. The good news is that as we strengthen we may have some bigtime seasons ahead of us.
3) We are not tearing up the recruiting world according to the experts, but most of us look at what Chan is building as a positive. Our DL and OL have arguably the best three year forecast ever in Tech history. Remember that a lot of our recruits were 2 star linemen that had to be developed. Well from my perspective Chan's track record of developing those guys has the potential to be flat out excellent. Our recruiting at the skill positions: RB, WR, LB, CB, S has always held it's own. I am not worried there. Be excited because we have what looks like a good future.
4) Lastly, I like Reggie Ball. He is one of our best competitors and has given his all. I'd like to see him more in a Slash role because he is no superstar QB. For four years now, Chan has been stuck with an average at best QB. It happens to programs and in our case, we've had no other options. Next year, I believe we finally have other options. And even if Reggie wins the job and can't improve to the top half of ACC Qb's, the next year we will have guys in the system for a few years competing for the job. We didn't have that before. This alone could improve our team substantially.

There is a lot to be excited about. A few years ago Chan kept to that "we don't make adjustments" reply. He has clearly been making adjustments at halftime. That shows growth to me so I'm hopeful for growth in other areas.

He's going to be here a while and considering how some shackles are coming off, I think we can optimistically look ahead. It may not turn rosy, but I think the outlook is positive.
