I'm a little surprised nobody has made a run for him yet. BSU has been good under him, and he's young. Of course with quality like Dabo Swinney out there, I guess I shouldn't be shocked this is the first we're hearing Petersen's name.

I find it very odd that in a matter of a few hours this afternoon we hear that.

Leach turns down UW.
Leach in at Auburn.

Houston Nutt to Auburn

Chris Petersen to Miss State
- by far the most baffling. Major step down

I have followed the MSU message boards a bit since we played them this year. There has been a lot of chatter this week about them going after Petersen, there is some history with the MSU AD (Greg Byrne, I think) with Petersen and while it first seemed that he may not be interested, the stuff I read last night indicated that they may have made an enormous offer ($3-$4 million).

I am not sure how true this is of course but there is talk that with the huge ESPN SEC agreement that each SEC school will be getting something like $15 million per year for 15 years so I could see them throwing money at whomever they want to get.

What about Georgia Southern's head coach to Auburn? If they are interested in an option offense, anyway. He was a candidate for us.

Hatcher? I don't think thats really an option style. He's wide open Texas Tech type offense.

He did not have a really good year, lost several close games, I have seen some criticism about late game management. If they are going to drop an experienced, successful SEC coach like TT, I can't see them taking a flyer on a lesser known coach to go up against Saban.
