I know 90% of Eagle nation will be keeping a close eye on what PJ does during the JAX State game. On the other side of the coin, since GT will be resting up the following weekend I was wondering if they would be watching / going to / listening to the GSU vs. UGA game?

I know most here will root for the Nazis if they were playing UGA but I just wanted to hear your thoughts. :laugher:

For whatever reason, I've always had a particular desire to see Georgia Southern beat Georgia. This year, seeing them drop their title hopes in the opener against a FCS school would be more than I could handle.

I will be pulling like hell for GSU, but I just don't give them as much of a chance vs UGA as in the past due to the new offense they run. PJ's GSU teams had a better shot for that reason IMO...one b/c its a funky offense, but 2 it can keep the D off the field. The new O has a potential to not be on the field much.

Tech fans will pay a lot of attention for the first quarter. If it's close, we'll pay a lot of attention until it gets un-close. If GSU wins, we'll throw you guys a big ole party.

you better believe it!!! I have always liked GSU anyways-

If GSU wins, I think I'd contemplate suicide, since my life would never be better then that moment. A #1 ranked UGA squad going down to a FCS school... I'd pull the trigger and go out on a high note.

Georgia just lost their starting LT for the season---how good is GSU's pass rush? Maybe that will help.

GSU is waaay too young for this year's ugag's jail birds. Probably a 28 point diff.

Georgie will beat them 45-7...maybe worse.

Central Michigan, however, actually has a good shot. Their QB is a fantasy football league darling who might catch the mutts nappin'.

Week 2 should be more telling than Week 1's cheast thumpfest.

Yes, Yes, and ummm, how do you say...HELL YES! Go you feisty Iggles. Kick some Bullpup ice.

I grew up a Georgia Southern fan and will be pulling for the Big Blue all the way. GATA Eagles!!!

Of course, I will be pulling for GSU. They are one of my two favorite teams (GT and whoever is playing/beating UGA).

This is what Paul Johnson did against Ugay the first time he played against them......

Game Story
ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Quincy Carter made his openingargument for Heisman Trophy consideration convincing, even ifthe opposition was not.
Carter battled the rain to pass for two touchdowns and run foranother, leading the 11th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs to a 29-7victory over Division I-AA Georgia Southern.
Considered one of the most versatile quarterbacks in thecountry, Carter completed 16-of-27 passes for 203 yards with oneinterception for Georgia (1-0). He also scored on a 12-yardrun.
Carter gave up baseball to concentrate on football during thesummer and showed signs that he is ready to build on a 1999campaign that saw him throw for 2,713 yards, rush for almost 300and account for 24 touchdowns.
The wet weather seemed to cause Carter more problems than theEagles' defense.
"With the exception of the ball slipping, I thought QuincyCarter was flawless," Georgia coach Jim Donnan said.
Georgia's Jasper Sanks rush for 64 yards on 10 carries, leadinga ground attack that gained 174 yards.
"I was glad to see Jasper run with authority," Donnan said."That was a tough fumble he had (on the 14-yard line less thansix minutes into the second quarter), but he played well."
Fullback Adrian Peterson was a workhorse for the Eagles (0-1),carrying the ball 27 times for 152 yards and the only touchdownfor an offense that gained 235 total yards.
"I felt if we executed, Peterson would get his yards tonight,"Georgia Southern quarterback J.R. Revere. "We expected to comeout and set a tone on the first drive, and we drove the ballwell on the first drive."
A 5-10, 212-pound junior from Alachua, Florida, Peterson tore upDivision I-AA last year, carrying 341 times for 2,610 yards -- a7.7 average -- and 37 touchdowns. He was also third on the teamwith nine catches for 120 yards.
Revere completed 10-of-19 passes for 45 yards, but was sackedthree times.
"I don't think the pressure affected him," Georgia Southerncoach Paul Johnson said. "It was the big guys in red shirts."
Carter found Durrell Robinson from 12 yards out at the 6:29 markin the first quarter to put the Bulldogs on the board. After heran in at 14:33 of the second quarter, Georgia was up, 14-0.
A safety early in the third quarter pushed the lead to 16-0.Carter hit Labrone Mitchell from seven yards out and Musa Smithdove into the end zone from two yards out, giving Georgia a 29-0lead.
Peterson gave the Eagles their only touchdown when scored fromnine yards out with less than three minutes to go. Despite their proximity, Georgia and Georgia Southern weremeeting for just the second time. The Bulldogs posted a 34-7victory here in 1992.
