Sounds like he’s using this year as a RS year; and will playin 23 and 24 for his new team. Doesn’t have the goal of playing somewhere else this year.

Think it's probably what @The Champ said. I know the façade of amateurism is pretty much gone, but I'd think you need to actually be enrolled from the start of the semester at a school in order to play for them.
