For those who know, what do we know about the guy?

Offensive-minded coach? Defensive-minded?

Good recruiter? Even at 62?

Tulane is historically AWFUL. 113th all time in winning %. Tommy Bowden parlayed his 12-0 season into the Clemson job. Mack Brown went 21-23 and got the UNC job in 1988.

Yesterday was their first win against a ranked team since 1984 (0-64).

Fritz led them to 3-straight 6+ win seasons for the 1st time in 70 years.

This is their 4th 10 win season ever.

Took GSU to 9-3 in their first year in the FBS. Had our Orange Bowl team on the ropes. Should beaten UGAg in Athens the next year (lost in OT).

Nope. He’s actually a defensive coach who lets his OCs run whatever offense they want. His teams have run shotgun, spread option some years, and pro-style in other years. He is not a “system” guy as far as on the field stuff goes. He’s a “culture” guy who is big on details off the field.

He’s a good, solid head coach that believes in disciplined players (very few penalties). He’s old but that might be what we need right now. He won’t be a long term hire and he’d be here for a rebuild, which would work for us.

He’s a 62 year old coach that no P5 team ever took a chance with but because we’re the smartest guys in the room we know he’s the right guy for the job.

Also, taking a historically bad Tulane team and going 41-45 doesn’t really say he can recruit. Just last year he was 2-10. If y’all think we got 7-8 years to turn the program around then Tech’s ööööing done. RIP

How many hires across CFB last more than 5 years anyway?

Last year he had Chip long as oc, that your coach hired away this year.

Enough with you please. We could have had Chadwell, but douches similar to yourself ruined that.

By all accounts the man is a solid football coach, and there was a large and loud percentage of STalkers wanting him to replace CPJ. I don't think anything he's done at Tulane has tarnished any "luster" he previously had. So if he is hired let's please be behind him 150%

Some Tulane fan perspective- they like him and seem happy for him to have the opportunity to advance (not that they want to push him out)
