Win vs. Miami, and we have a 2 game lead with all the good tie breakers.

But damnit. CU made us look ridiculous.

And why don't we have a check route to get Calvin the ball when he isn't covered?

If we knock off Miami - which will be less than an easy task, they'll come out firing next week trying to rise above their adversity and we'll be reeling from a big loss to Clemson - then we'll be right back on top again. We control our own destiny and can still make this a wonderful season - you can't ask for much more than that.

We win and we're in good shape. We lose and I fear the wheels will come flying off.

This game is the difference between a good year and another mediocre year (or worse).

This Miami game will test the character of this TEAM.

We have to suck it up and kick ass. Get mad:angryfire:

Miami was and is the key game. The Clemson game would have been a nice feather in the cap, it just stings to get soundly beaten ...but it's over.

It all comes to a head next Saturday at 3:30. Beat Miami and I have to believe GT will take 2 of 3 (if not all 3) remaining conference games and win the Coastal.

premise of thread is wrong..........if we beat Miami......but then continue to play the way we did last night.......we could end up watching the
ACC CG from home

the reality is if we beat Miami then all we need to do is win 2 of 3 against NCST, NC, and Dook to go to the title game.

In fact we will probably be favored in every game until the bowl.

so I think the thread title is pretty accurate

I agree that it is fortunately over, but a win last night would have been a heckuva lot more than a feather in our cap.
Personally, I would rather we didn't back into the game in jax. It is more important, imo to be good enough to deserve the game than to get there by default.
I can understand why fsu felt pretty empty about going last year.

We wouldn't be backing into it at all, we are currently the legitimate leader and in control of our division, beat Miami and we've pretty much sealed that as long as we don't have any major screwups. Clearly Clemson is the dominate team in the ACC, but they might get left out for dropping one early to BC.

That said, I'd put us and BC tied for the 2/3 position in the whole of the ACC right now, and rightly one of us will probably go to the ACCCG. I'm not happy about last night at all, I think some bad things got exposed, but its very recoverable.

That said, I wish we didnt have divisions and just did round robin style and match up the two teams with the best records at the end of the year and forget about all the artificial division crap, at least the SEC/BIG12 make a little more sense as they're geographical, ours are just a hodge podge that doesn't really make much sense at all except trying to spread the power equally.

I do sorta like the rivalry that Clemson/Tech is turning into, there was a lot of talk like that on the CU radio shows yesterday, we're a big enough deal that they rush the field after a victory. Nice to have a 2nd rival again since we're not playing AU and couldnt quite get over the hump with FSU.

Refresh my memory. How many of the UM players will still be suspended from their recent fighting incident when we play them at BDS? I was out of town during the game that the fight broke out and lost track of how many UM players were suspended, and for how long. I'm merely asking this question because I was wondering how we might be able to capitalize on their stupidity and knack for fighting.

Keep your helmets on when UM comes to town Jackets. You might get beaned on the head when you're not looking. ;)

If I am not mistaken, everyone will be back with the possible exception of the helmet slinger and the student-athlete that got a foot cramp on the knee of a fiu player.

The real question revolves around the zero tolerance rule against those suspended, and whether we can get 100% better since last night.

I agree..the Miami game is a 'must win' to prove progress over last year by winning the division title. Assuming we win 2 of the next 3 after that.

Miami gets all their players back except one for the game vs us.

I don't know that the players who missed the Duke game made much difference. I think only 3 would have started and 1 still won't be back.

Just some random comparative statistics...

Clemson's avg. O-Line weight: 314
Miami's avg. O-line weight: 314

Clemson's avg. D-line weight: 282
Miami's avg. D-line weight: 276

Clemson's yards per carry: 6.3
Miami's yards per carry: 3.9

(Most importantly)
Clemson's record: 7-1
Miami's record: 5-2

The last two make me feel much better...

Reddick is not a starter.

All 3 of their starters (one was kicker Brian Monroe) will be back.
