Winning the Coastal?

I know it's pretty unlikely, but if we play like we did last night we'll beat every team in our division and end up 5-3. If that were to happen, we'll need some help to end up on top, but it's far from impossible. Here's a very early look at remaining games for each team:

VT (3-1): BC, @Pitt, Miami, UVA
Miami (2-1): @BC, Duke, @GT, @VT, Pitt
Pitt (2-1): Duke, @UVA, VT, @Wake, @Miami
UVA (3-1): UNC, Pitt, @GT, @VT
Duke (1-2): @Pitt, @Miami, UNC, @Clem, Wake

Do you see any of those teams ending up 6-2? I don't, especially if we can beat them. Like I said, it's a longshot, but it's fun to have something to hope for.
 
UVA has a pretty good shot at being 6-2 with a loss to us.

Even if we don't win the coastal at 5-3 it will be our first season above .500 in the conference since the Orange Bowl. I'll take it.

I hate being that guy, but it might be better to avoid getting shellacked by Clemson in Charlotte.

If we win out in the conference, we're 5-3 with the head to head against Miami, VPI, UVA and UNC. It takes a wild combination of Coastal round robin plus we would need the Atlantic teams to help us with Duke and Pittsburgh. But it's there--at least as of today. When Duke and Pittsburgh get four losses, then look out. Pitt and Duke play each other, Duke has Clempsen this year, UVA just needs one more loss if we beat them.

Look at their remaining games though.

Duke can only lose one of: @Pitt, @Miami, UNC, @Clem, Wake
Pitt can only lose two of: Duke, @UVA, VT, @Wake, @Miami

Both of those scenarios are unlikely, but we also have to win out the next 3. When's the last time we won 4IAR during the season? 2014.

That’s what people said in 2012 About FSU too and we damn near won that game. Always rather play the game.
 
Start simple for now. Nothing bad happens if we beat Carolina.

If we win out in conference
VT (3-1): BC, @Pitt, Miami, UVA should lose to Miami & UVA,possibly to Pitt or BC
Miami (2-1): @BC, Duke, @GT, @VT, Pitt we beat them , one other team does beats them too
Pitt (2-1): Duke, @UVA, VT, @Wake, @Miami they will have to lose 3 of those most likely UVA ,VT, Miami,
UVA (3-1): UNC, Pitt, @GT, @VT we beat them & hope they drop one more soewhere
Duke (1-2): @Pitt, @Miami, UNC, @Clem, Wake they lose to Clemson, & hopefully one more
Of course if we lose another conference game all this is moot, but if we beat UNC,UVA, Miami or any 2 of those we are in a bowl which a couple of weeks ago looked unlikely.
We will know in a few weeks.
 
As I say every year: we know the Coastal is going to be a dumpster fire, we're just waiting to find out what color.

We’ll play like we did last night if the opposing teams defenses play like VT played last night. We won’t winning the coastal.

Mouth breathers? Still want another coach, but the situation is intriguing. The vicissitudes of college football.
