What are your thoughts on us picking up the Eagles on our future schedules? How do you think we would match up with them? FSU, Ugag, and others have played them recently. We could use some more wins on our schedule...Think we could beat them consistently?

no win situation. They're good enough to win on their best day, and good enought to give you a good game anyday. You look aweful if you lose to a AA team, and don't look very good if you do.

So you don't think we could beat them consistently? We've played plenty of smaller schools in the past. This one would generate a lot of interest aroud the state, similar to what "other" schools have enjoyed...

It is generally a bad idea to play I-AA schools from your state.

As RP stated, it is a no-win situation. Talk to anyone in college athletics and they will confirm this.

Another reason its bad is it gives legitimacy to a program that may want to be Div I-A someday. We don't want to (nor can we afford to) do that.

Never play a good team with a bad name when you can play a bad team with a good name...
GSU is a no win situation for us... beating them will only help our record, losing to them will always hurt our credibility not only for that season but for the recruiting season to follow...
Besides why should we schedule GSU when we can beat up on Auburn every couple of years?...

I don't think we should play any I-AA teams. Playing these guys would make more sense than playing Samford or Jacksonville State, however.

I doubt we could do worse than UGAy did last year, when they gave up around 300 yards rushing and let GSU score 28 points on them.

I don't think we need to go the UGAy route with multiple patsies on the schedule. I much prefer our approach of playing teams like Notre Dame and Auburn, although we have to play one weak sister per year to get 6 home games.

Of course we could and we would. Do you have doubts about that?

We would do better picking up Vanderbilt every year(now that J. Cutler is gone).... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banana.gif

who have we beaten on a consistent basis?

Who is the "we" you are talking about?

Naw, beating Auburn is more fun.

Wake, Duke, Carolina, State, Auburn for starters. There's no reason to play GSU unless they get to D-1A status.

I had rather go with as tough a schedule as this year or maybe even tougher. These so called easy games seem to be the ones that get your players injured and for no good cause. If you win, you haven't done much, if you lose, it's curtains from your fans. Like Ramblin Peck stated, these teams on their best day may just check our oil for us. I'd much rather pick up Tennessee or Florida than any smaller schools. Matter of fact, I've gotten to the place in my life where I'd rather beat any SEC team about as bad as I'd like to beat Notre Dame. That's coming from one that was a SEC fan for years too. I also think the bigger schools force us to play at our best consistently. Yes, I like my cake and I like to eat it too. (LOL)

Agree with no-win situation

UGA fans don't want GSU back on their schedule(before BVG got there) because they thought it was a no-win situation as well.

Playing a tough schedule sells tickets and in years like 2005 it payed off because we won. But we won't win games we are underdogs in every year (though we have been very good as of late) and I wonder in some years if we would not be better off scheduling a patsy so we could get to 8 or 9 wins more easily in the regular season. May look better in some bowls eyes.
