Wonder what Les Miles is up to these days....

As big of a joke the NCAA became, at least they tried to keep things somewhat regulated. The money just got too big for them or anyone else to keep things from getting out of hand. Now you have colleges paying players enough money for them to buy Lambo SUVs for themselves.

Vacating wins from yesteryear is a bit of a joke. At a minimum they should be fined the equivalent of earnings related to the football program for those years (yes I am including the conference payout here). Maybe that is a little much, but a percentage based on the number of games they won. Like for 2012 they were 10-3; so the fine should be 76.9% of the conference payout that year.

USC made megabucks off Reggie Bush and would 100% do it again.

This isn't the same NCAA that administered the death penalty to SMU. Not saying they should administer another death penalty ... clearly, that was a bit extreme, but this is weak sauce.

Exactly. Who really cares there is an asterisk next to the win in Wikipedia.

I say we're 2009 ACC champs but I'm definitely a little pissed that it's not official and we can't hang a banner.

NCAA penalizing schools for doing NIL activities, which they now tout as in the best interests of everyone in the sport, is peak irony and I'm here for it.

Frankly, I think this kind of öööö just further undermines the NCAA and further erodes any semblance of fairness in the game. LSU got caught but this kind of crap has been going on at the football factories for decades. The disproportionate, inequitable and untimely application of their "enforcement" is but one more nail in a nearly buried coffin of "amateur" athletics.

FWIW, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see a mutiny of sorts or a SECession from the NCAA in the coming years by these super conferences. From their view, why do they need the NCAA? A regulating body requires the consent of the regulated, presumably for the benefit and equitable treatment of all. Nobody believes that is happening any more. Likely never was.

This ‘vacating wins’ business just emphasizes how useless the NCAA really is. Everyone who watched or played on those games knows who won - especially the 2009 ACC Championship. The only practical and effective sanctions would be financial.

Vacating wins is like forcing Jeff Bezos to admit that Amazon was never technically "The Earth's Biggest Bookstore" as claimed in 1994.

I'm sure the NCAA left no rock unturned to make sure LSU wasn't a knowing participant in the Our Lady of the Lake Foundation embezzling scheme and providing payments to players' families.

Something something something… pry it from my cold dead hands
Love the Avatar name, Meatwrench, you as I still count the 2009 win vs. Clem and his son in Tampa as a win, and an ACC Champeenship. The NCAA can go pound sand as far as I'm concerned, and take Radako(sticking behind Hewitt for way too long)vich with them.

If LSU (or anyone else) wanted to stick it to the NCAA, could they hire Les back on one game at a time deals for $1 per game to be the "head coach" during their lesser games (this year against Grambling St, Army, and Georgia State), to get him back over the .600 winning percentage to be eligible for the college football hall of fame?
Not that they would. Likely, they don't care, either.

How does Tech not hang a 2009 ACC banner?

They should. Too much of that care has been lost in this mess
