is that we have already received two big time commitments this afternoon. However, one I know wants to remain private for the time being. In respect to this wish, I will not include either recruits name until I hear an Okay to do so. However, if this is true, we will all be extremely happy...I'll leave it at that.

Wow! What is it with us and July? It seems like our recruiting catches on fire this month just like last year.

Any way of telling us their positions? No names of course.

Thanks for this update MGT!!!

MustangGT,
I now know how our children felt back in the 60's when we would have to code all the Christmas gift tags under the tree instead of putting the actual (to who real name) on them. This was done just so they couldn't figure out which one was theirs and etc.
Sooooooo, saying all that, I won't bug you to death about who these 2 commits are, but when the fog lifts, please share with us. In return, we won't try to decifer any codes. Deal???

The first one's name starts with Steven and ends with Sylvester...Any guesses :D

I don't even want to give clues to the second. This board is public and I don't want to step on any toes. I'll post his name when I see that it is okay.

Oops, I just gave you a glue...He is male

Looks like Sylvester chose us over Alabama, UNC, South Carolina, and NC St. Smart kid.

Yeah, and the funny thing is that the Dawgs have said repeatedly that he was theirs to lose

Guess they lost him :laugher:

Scout doesn't even show them offering him. They must have assumed he would commit with little effort on their part. Arrogant pricks.

Is this what all the hub-bub was over on the hive earlier today? Had a post that the name of the recruit had already been deleted by the time i got there, and when i tried to post a reply, the entire post had already been deleted as well. Or was that one about basketball?

I understand that people dont want to make things public until maybe they have told other coaches, family, etc. But why does even the insider message boards get the info if it was supposed to be kept private to begin with? What is the point in coming on somewhere (and this is not directed at you Mustang), and saying, "i know something you dont know, but you have to wait because it's supposed to be private", when there are obviously a bunch of people already in the know?

If these recruits are trying to keep it from family, other coaches, etc, dont you think that somehow the word gets back to them anyways? Just silly I think. These guys dont sign on the bottom line until Feb anyways, so whats the big deal? Why even come out with teasers? If the info is supposed to be private, you wouldnt be trying to solicit people to become members to your "insider" membership. Are you really doing that recruit justice when you come onto any board, public or "private", and discuss?

Again, not directed at you Mustang. I appreciate the info you drop here on stingtalk. More just frustrated with the elitist attitude that some on the hive often get...

SMoney,
I think that you make a good point...even though I can be a member of the guilty party :p

I think that I saw the post that you are referring to on the Hive. I would say, based on the responses before it was deleted, that it was concerning the two football commits. From what I gathered the names were released on Rivals and someone ran over to the Hive and posted it. Scout just wants to keep it off the public board. I am respecting this for the sake of the young man not for The Hive or any of it's members. I don't think that releasing the young man's name would do any harm, but I was asked not to and I wouldn't want to step on the toes of those who are willing to let us in on insider secrets...we may not get anymore tidbits if we do.

As for the "I know something that you don't and I am not telling," I just want to give you all something to look forward to as I personally get very excited over the recruiting processes of college football. I wanted to wait and post it when I saw other public boards and articles doing the same. Again, just out of respect for the player and those in the know that will let me know.

As for the elitist attitude of some of the Hivers. I agree. That is why I do not post there. I would never want to be viewed in that light.

Mustang-

Again, want to reinforce that it was not directed at you. Don't think you took it that way, but just want to make sure you didn't. I understand the "give ya something to look forward to" mentality, and I really appreciate it. You are honoring your agreement and I respect that. If you felt as if you could say something, you would. I just get frustrated with the, "if you paid more money, you would be in the know as well" mentality. Again, not from you, but from others on the "other" major board. If it was really secret info, it would be secret. If it was "privileged" info, why not say so. You pay a premium for the info, so that makes you part of the group. But don't pretend (again, not directed towards you) that it is "secret" info. There is a price you can pay to find out, and that price is simply a scout or rivals premium membership. Us commoners find out a day or two later in most cases on the "public" boards.

Actually neither wanted this to be public information.

They're not trying to keep it from family. Their families were the first to know. They each have their own reasons for certain groups of people not knowing for the time being.

Stupid question - if the info is available on Rivals in the pay area, does anyone really believe that area coaches don't either get it for free or shell out the bucks?? Therefore, if it is on Rivals, what's the harm?

Maybe it's just me, but if I were trying to keep something a secret I wouldn't tell anyone associated with a web site that makes their money publishing that sort of content.

Well, since Scout has an article up, I guess it is now cool to talk about the mystery commit...Mr. A.J. Jenkins, the Wide Receiver out of Jacksonville, Fl. However, according to the article he wants to check out a UF camp, but just to compete...whatever that means.

Quote:
“First I’m going to go to Florida for Friday Night Lights and then I’m going to make my decision after that day which it’s probably going to be Georgia Tech,”

Just so people know, the general consensus is that a new commit asked us to keep quiet so that he could honor some obligations that he had already committed to, but that could/would be taken away if it was discovered that he had already notified another school of his decision. Our coaches agreed, and, as far as I am concerned, that should have been the end of it.

I pay my money to get the "Insider" information, but this is one case where I would not have minded waiting and think the info should have been withheld until permission was granted by the recruit. The kid is doing what he thinks is right and has a legitimate reason. I personally hope he enjoys himself tremendously, now that the pressure is off and shows everyone what he can do on the field and how fortunate the Jackets were to get him.

I agree, if this was meant to be quiet why put it on a "insiders" board. Who would have ever thought that a major Div-1 school couldn't buy a scout or rivals membership for $100 a year? I guess that there is no way that could be in the budget.:wtf:
