The idiots booing. I guess maybe they had some left in their system from last year and figured they'd empty it out tonight.

One guy was removed from the section next to us because he kept booing and insulting Calvin Booker, which resulted in two guys approaching him to tell him to shut his mouth. He got belligerent towards them and the GBI hauled him out.

Agreed. Totally unnecessary and showing lack of class.

Also, unlike the OL, Booker played hard and gave it everything he had.

I was rather pissed at people booing except after that bogus penalty against Johnson. I was more than happy to lead the bull**** chant against that one.

Oh, absolutely. I was beyond irate. One of the worst calls I have ever seen. It was almost like they were set on making sure they called a penalty and they picked that one.

Worse than the bad blocking..

Was that on the long drive home, I lost 790 before I even lost the HOV lane. But I had 1 AM station, and 4 (!?!) FM stations loud and clear in UGAg's radio network.

Does GT not have ONE ... just ONE station that can be heard leaving Atlanta out I-85 North? The Greenville-Spartanburg area of SC is full of GT alums. You'd think they'd have an affiliate.

Um, ok....we just sweated out a victory over Gardner-Webb. If anybody near me wanted to boo, I wouldn't have been upset.

 I was waiting on the first one. In my opinion - and I know I'm not alone - it's idiotic to boo student athletes because they're not playing well. We had a bad game. It sucks. But it's classless to boo your own team because they had a bad day.

Booing isn't that big a deal to me. It's not like you're saying you don't like them or appreciate what they do or anything...it's just giving them a little kick in the pants. You cheer for good plays, you boo for bad plays. Yeah, the players just had a bad day...just look at the fans as having a bad day too. Are we supposed to sit there and pretend we enjoy such an obviously underwhelming performance? They will get over it. Maybe the OL will even take it to heart.

Also, the boos were not bad at all today. Certainly not as bad as the play was.

When your third string QB is in and isn't doing well, booing is the complete opposite of productive.

Also, were my eyes playing tricks on me or did their right tackle start about two counts ahead of the snap on their scoring play?

I didn't see it, but one person near me said the same thing. That's a pretty easy call to make though, you don't often see officials missing a false start call. Too bad we'll never know because the game wasn't even on tv...unless it's available for replay on accselect?

You cheer for good plays, you boo the refs.

fixed. I don't get booing your own players, ever. I think cheer or don't say anything at all. Needless to say, there were several times yesterday when I said nothing at all.

Basically, I feel that you boo to express your displeasure with the results on the field. As a fan, you have every right to do so. However, I do think there is a line that can be crossed, and I don't feel that booing crosses it. If the booing is just mild and comes after a disappointing play/result, I'm fine with it. If people are booing for every second leading up to, and throughout a play, then that's far too much.

I'm with haywire on this issue. That is the way fans with class react. I can understand why a Mets fan would take issue.:laugher::laugher::laugher: Or as Rodney Dangerfield said, "Call me, when you have no class."

Some the booing was at the GW players from the East Stands when they were taunting the fans.

Hey, we may boo our players but at least we always show up for them, which is more than we can say sometimes at Georgia Tech.

Booing Booker was ridiculous. The kid played his heart out. He can't help that he is slow afoot for the first few steps. He can't help that the O-line blocking was awful.

He was really disappointed late in the third when they pulled him after they sent him in for Dykes, 3rd and 11. He ran for 10 then ran for a first down on 4th. We sent Dykes back in and he fumbled.

How many games do you ever win with your 3rd and 4th string QB? I am glad we won this one and Booker did his best. There was no need to boo.

My only play calling question was why we did not isolate backs over the middle, short, in the 2nd half. It worked for a TD with Dwyer, then we never tried it again.

When the Mets were bad nobody was showing up to Shea (not that I blame anyone, Shea is an awful stadium and the Mets are finally getting a new stadium which is great).

:laugher:

Well, there is a certain expectation of success, if you are the laughingstock of the league it's not even worth the effort to show up and boo. Unfortunately, we were just that bad that often.

I think booing is just becoming part of the game. Maybe, I just got used to it with Gailey, and I don't boo the players but, you're seeing it at stadiums everwhere these days.
