I started running the Navy playbook (NCAA 2008, Xbox 360). I'll admit, it's toughened the game up some, but I'm managing. Anyone else do it?

I was also looking through my Gator Bowl program, and came across stats from last year (I went to that one too). WVUs stats looked very similar to my picture from above.

did you recruit option athletes? i did the same thing- i took this past year's team and played with our typical playbook in the game. throughout that season though, i recruited people to run the option. the next year i had a jc option qb (nesbit appears to be slower in the game than real life) and a few good options (no pun intended) at a-back and b-back and was able to run navy's offense very successfully.

Your game had 68 plays, a full GT game should have about 130.

So proportional to a full game those numbers are:

650 total yards
400 yard rushing, 65 carries, 6.2 YPC
250 yards passing (13-16)
240 yards total D
GT time of possession, about 38 or 39 minutes.

I would have to say I'd have no problems with those numbers. :p

WVU averaged just over 300/150 the last two years so statistically they are very comparable to how most of us imagine a really good CPJ offense in the ACC.

Uh, what?
An analysis released by the Associated Press last week found that the average number of plays per game has gone from 127 last season to 143 this season. The average points per game has increased from 48.8 to 56.2.

130 would be closer to the # of plays by both teams, not GT. 68 is near the average.

I still only had 46 plays of my own. So I guess the numbers would still go up when moved to the ~60 plays that are normal.

Is this really a post about a stats on a VIDEO GAME?!

anyway my favorite number on the entire screen is at the bottom. GT #1!!

44-12? yeah, I'd be happy with that. I don't really care about the yardage, except as it pertains to getting the points.

Of course it is. You see the real live Yellow Jackets playing right now? Me neither.

Well, it IS duke. I had an epic throwdown with Miami tonight. wound up 40-22, but only because they threw two pick-sixes in the last 1:30

It's still not quite accurate. I've won a national championship with Duke in that game. I think we can all agree that's not gonna REALLY happen for a while.

I'd be happy with those numbers in a real game.

I wouldn't be happy with those numbers on XBox, because NCAA College Football is really easy to run numbers up in. Especially running the Navy playbook, because you can pretty much guarantee yourself 8 yards a carry based purely on your presnap read, if you've got option both directions in your audible list.

beej67,
used to run Rice's playbook in NCAA Football 2005, which was very similar

Did you play on xbox? Ill assure you its alot different than PS2 (what Im thinking you played on, I didnt think 2005 was on xbox). PS2 is TONS easier.

I haven't played 2008 yet. They may have made it tougher.

So given that, does it make more sense to assume I'm a drooling moron, or that I was talking about plays by both teams and adjust to the obvious context? :p

On second thought, don't answer that! ;)

So to clarify:

GSU's game had 68 plays total, 46 run by GT. A full CFB game is roughly 140 plays total (70 for each team) but I think will only be 125-130 for GT games -- we'll run so much clock that both teams will get fewer plays from scrimmage.

So I took the 68 plays and adjusted them upwards for a rough idea of what they would be in a normal GT game. Of course they're meaningless b/c it's a video game, it's all just for fun.

Finally, this is all based on the rules prior to 2008. IMO the possible new out-of-bounds clock rule would have a much bigger effect than anything else, and could shorten games a pretty good bit.

Im cool with any numbers as long as we are winning and undefeated!!

Excuse me, Mr. Drooling Idiot, sir. But there were 97 plays in that game. Tech had 46 - 37 runs, 9 passes. Duke had 41 - 8 runs, 27 passes, 6 kicks. Care to readjust?
