This matchup could be a hard earned coup for Gary Stokan & the Atlanta Sports Council. The game will be every bit as big, & as well attended, as the Peach Bowl at December's end. Sure won't be as hot in the Georgia Dome the 1st week of Sept as it would be outdoors.
Excellent move by these 2 schools to get a big game, national TV, neutral site & marquee headlines in a recruiting hotbed for both. Alabama is really taking advantage of this neutral site strategy by playing in Jacksonville this season & opening in Atl next yr. The Crimson Tide may just get Duke to move the 2010 gm in Durham to the Dome as well.
Interesting to see that it's hard to get an opponent for Florida St, who is interested in playing in the Ga Dome, to sign up for the the neutral site bash. Would Gary Stokan even be interested in a one time Ga Tech gm vs Tennessee or Auburn or South Carolina @ the Ga Dome??? Steve Spurrier has publicly stated that he'd like to play Ga Tech. Terry Bowden publicly stated GT was the team Auburn people most wanted to play & he promptly scheduled a 3 gm series. Would GT's Athletic Administration be for a neutral hoedown???
