Some thoughts about this amazing game...

1. What the Clemson crowd did last week our crowd did this week. We even completely ripped off playing "Zombie Nation" before kickoffs. I wasn't at GT-UVA in 1998, but that was the best crowd I have ever seen on the flats. By my count, Wright had to call two timeouts and UM had a false start close to our student section, and those two timeouts became key later on.

2. Travis Bell, at least right now, you are a god and I wish you were my dad. Way to silent your critics with performance on the field!

3. We may have the best punt kicking unit in the whole damn nation. We had the ball on the one yard line with the Brooks in the very back of the endzone and Brooks punted 62 yards. That's gotta be up there in the longest punts in history from the one yard line.

4. 17 FOURTH QUARTER POINTS! Although he didn't look so hot for much of the game, Reggie started to look comfortable back there towards the end of the game. Hopefully he keeps it up on the road to the Orange Bowl.

5. Some great calls by Nix today, such as the Screens to Cox that worked out beautifully. The Calvin pass was great too and it was fun just to see that. I'm sure him and Gailey will get some grief on setting up for the field goal on the third and 19, but I can certainly understand the methadology. Giving Bell a straight kick probably meant more points on average than trying to throw it deep and risking an interception.

6. All in all, good job by the defense today. Considering how Miami beat us in TOP 11 minutes to 4 minutes in both the second and third quarter, they did great by holding Miami to nine offensive points for most of the game.

7. Speaking of that missed tackle, we've now had three games in a row with a big missed tackles towards the end. I can only consider these late missed tackles as part of our razor-thin depth at DB.

8. Kickoff returns...at least it didn't lose the game today. I've just accepted being happy with a return inside the 30 and being happy that we only gave up one big return today.

9. I'm sure BBBBuzzoff will go on and on about how we should have blown them out or how bad Miami is. Fact is, though, we are very, very likely to show up in JAX this year despite what they say.

10. Student section chanted "jailbirds" to the Miami section before the game. Classic!

Great, tough win today by the Yellow Jackets. Discounting the seven points we spotted Miami up front, we won this game by 14 points today and I'm very proud of them.

BEAT NC STATE!

Good observations all around. You are most definitely correct in your belief that we have the best punter in the NCAA. Durant Brooks deserves a peice of the game ball today.

You are right! It was a great atmosphere!!!!

IF Durant Brooks is not receiving All America recognition, what else does he need to do?

Can anyone believe that special teams was a major contributor in this win today?
The kick off out of bounds was inexcusable though, imo.

Also, why did soon to be ex coach Coker kick it away after their last score? I don't think he understood the situation.

I don't know. I couldn't believe that scUM was kicking it deep with 2 minutes 30 seconds left. They only had 1 timeout left.

Durant is god.

Wow. Just wow.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't it Durant Brooks who snagged two bad snaps as the holder on the first and third FGs?

Durant definitely deserves a game ball. What a freaking WEAPON.

Great TEAM win today. Everyone contribuited and I can't say enough about Reggie in the 2nd half. He still aint right physically but he hung and there, stepped into his throws and made a lot of big plays today.

I think Nix deserves a lot of credit too, he called a great game. We didn't panic when we got down, which we easily could have.

One other observation, Miami did as good of job defending Calving one on one as I have seen.

I believe this is one of the most important things in collegiate football. I remember rodney williams winning games for us with his HUGE kicks.
Just a huge fan of good punting.

He just seems to get better and better evey game. What a punt he had backed up in the endzone. He sure can handle pressure!

I agree. On the other hand, I also enjoyed seeing the TV announcers proven wrong. One of them - I thought it was Bob Griese, but I'm not sure - said once that Reggie Ball just does not have the passing skills to hit a receiver in double coverage. A few plays later, RB threw a bullet to CJ between two defender. Griese, or whoever it was, never admitted he was wrong, of course, but it still made me smile.

We old guys will remember this is the way Bobby Dodd used to coach. Nothing was more important to him than the kicking game and good field position.

Durant Brooks might be this teams MVP. That punt out of the end zone was probably the greatest punt I have ever seen.

My seats are down on that side of the field and I remember thinking "oh good he got it off." Then I'm thinking "wow, that's still in the air."

Then I'm thinking "wow, that's still in the air."

Then I'm thinking "holy shit, I think Durant Brooks is going to race a train back to his Kansas farm after this game is over."

Brooks is a gamer. He was the same in high school. In basketball he could rain treys from anywhere in the front court. He's a good athlete and a proven winner.

Good points all around.

We didn't fold after some early hiccups and fought through to win a huge game. Props to the entire team and staff on a well earned victory.

Now is the time to stay focused so we can insure that we have that special season. The players have certainly earned it.
