Did Yandell play and if so, how'd he do?

Did we ever have Josh(split out wide) in on the direct snap package to the RB? The possibilities with him in on that package are limitless and I'd like to see him working from that wideout spot. He would definitely be a better pass option off a quick step back screen.

I only recall (haven't watched the game again) seeing JN either under center or in the gun.

This is my first post here and I was wondering is it the same hive 5 over here?

Yandell was there, did not play.

Nesbitt played, but not in that formation.

And hell no its not the same Hive five. We don't water down the truth with tasty kool aid bullsh*t. You'll here it exactly as if you were at a regular tailgate. We aren't haters, and we aren't rah rah types. We just tell it like it is.

I thought the exact thing. The whole point of putting the QB out wide is to distract an extra defender by putting him on the QB, leaving one less guy for Choice to deal with. Having Nesbitt out there would pose 2 possiblities/threats (double pass or he could run the ball after a reception) instead of just one (double pass) with Bennett. I'm sure they have some tricks up their sleeves w/ this formation that we may see later.

That's refreshing, I quit (posting) @ the Hive last year for a few of those reasons among others. Whoever is responsible for my approval, thanks!!

Yandell did not play. With Smith back I think we are trying to redshirt Yandell.

I wonder if Bennett is out there to bait the other team into not covering him at all. ND stopped covering him towards the end of the game.

I would love to see another slow boy scamper for a TD like the one Goose put on UGA.

Welcome to the darkside, Chaz...:D

I haven't been here very long myself, but I can tell you that there is not as much traffic on StingTalk in comparison to the Hive. However, you still get all the important information that is out there.

All the Stuff, without the Fluff.

Word round the campfire is that Choice was cleared to pass to Taylor if the opportunity arose.

The Wildcat is in many ways much like the option. The point of the option is to tie up a defender guarding the quarterback when you make your pitch, so there's one less guy you have to block. Sticking TB out wide does the same thing.

I only heard the game on the radio, but some friends told me that towards the end of the game ND was going 11 on 10, completely ignoring Taylor wide, and yet we still ran it down their throats. I find that hilarious, but it won't work vs a better team. Taylor needs to be able to catch the ball and do something with it. I wonder what we have planned for that, because you KNOW there's a Plan B with that formation. If he's wide open, I suppose he could always run for six and out of bounds before someone closes, but I do wonder if we have perhaps a lateral to him - pass back to Choice for a delayed middle screen ready to go out of the formation, or maybe a lateral to him, then cross-the-field deep ball ready to go out of it too. All three could be reads from the same playcall.

Wes said he was going to have to talk to Bond and ask him whether our version is called the Wildcat or not. I definitely need to see some Youtube of this crazy ass formation before the next game. Looks neat.

This is correct. Taylor was always split out the farthest and they just stopped putting a guy out there. A good throw would have netted an easy 10-20 yards (taking Bennett's *ahem* speed into account).

It seems like a tweak that would be even better would be to split Bennett out all alone on one side and put everybody else on the other, then if they don't cover him it becomes even easier to get him the ball.

Watch the whole game here!

imagine the interchangeability of that package with Nesbitt and Grant back there...my head hurts for opposing D's just to fathom it.

Choice definitely has the green light to throw it if it's open, he made a couple quotes after the game about this. Nesbitt will be awesome in that package which I believe they're calling the Jacket Package.

I know that Choice has said he can throw it, but I would be absolutely shocked if the coaches let him. I've been at every practice for 2 years going on 3, and let's just say there's a reason he's a running back and not a QB.

Yandell did not play. With about 9 minute left in the 4th quarter. Dunmon went in as the left guard. The next series with 7:30 left, Dunmon moved to Center, Voss went in as LG, and D Brown went in as RT. Rhodes went in as RG. Nate went back in for the next series at RG. Lonowski stayed in as RT. Jake L started taking all the reps for AJ early in the 3rd quarter.

CG mentioned a couple years ago that Oline was one of the position which he believes is important to Red Shirt. He said at the time that Oline need extra time to develope mentally & physically
