Can I join the club?

Source:
Guy at work does churchish stuff with a player, talked with said player about football, gleaned the following..

Info:
Not likely that Tenuta leaked the thing about Michigan to Herbstreit, as his response in the cafeteria that morning watching Herbstreit break the story was a very long series of "God Damn Muther F ing lier, what a bunch of F ing lies I'm gonna wring that Muther Fer's neck" etc. (not an exact quote, gist is Tenuta spit his breakfast out in astonishment and used the word 'lier' a lot)

Some portion of the friction/lack of cohesion for the Fresno game was from the spiritual angle. When Tashard went to lead the team in the regular pre-game prayer, Tenuta told him he could "take it off the football field." (Tenuta being an atheist, didn't want the team to pray on the field. Seems pretty extreme to me.) The religious guys on the football team are as pleased with PJ as they were with Chan, from a spirituality standpoint, and the team Chaplain is staying too.

Seemed to indicate that Evans's return to the team was questionable, which I found very surprising, and I'm not sure I trust that bit of info because it doesn't make any sense to me. Said Bennett was planning on graduating early and going to grad school at Boise State - no new info there, other than his destination.

Friend at work said "lots of players transferring," but when I pressed him, all he mentioned was Bennett, Peak, and Evans, and Bennett and Peak Stingtalk already knew about, and I'm still a skeptic about Evans.

So yeah, third hand info from an anonymous internet source, take it for what it's worth (zero) but I figured the one time I got something I considered marginally reliable I should throw it in the pot.

Hell if I know.

I also heard last week that Ted Roof was going to run some crazy innovative stuff in 1999, like a 3-5-3, a 3-3-5, and some other wacky stuff to exploit our defense's speed, but then was told to ****can the whole thing and go to a base 4-3 the week before the first game by George, and that George took over the playcalling too, and hung Roof out to dry for it.

Don't know if that source was reliable either. :P

Thanks beej

Regarding Evans...so far he is still on board. Prior to the coaching change he was definitely transfering because of the combination of a crowded TB position and some family issues to deal with back home. He just has to get the family issues addressed at this point...he is obviously comfortable with the PT situation as he would likely start next year at one of the SB spots.

Thought the thinking on Evans was that it was a personal thing and wasn't a reaction to the coaching change. What's been reported is that it's all been cleared up though and that he's staying. Hope so.

Figures, the man in the know beat me to it. Everything I said was stolen from hivered.

The one thing that worried me slightly from my omgwtfbbq insider!! convo this morning was he mentioned that Evans hadn't come back to campus yet. I can't confirm/deny that, and maybe it has to do with that personal thing instead, but some confirmation that he's registered in school and showing up to class would go a long way to easing my fears.

I'll do what you do to everyone else.

I don't buy it, I don't think you have an insider the story sounds made up. LOL

In fact, as of last week or two ago Evans isn't transferring (but school hadn't started back up), Peak is already gone and TB hasn't fully decided. And my source is a DIRECT contact at the GTAA.

I don't doubt the story about prayer with JT. He is a flat out jerk, and if you know any of the players most didn't really care for the guy (defensive side)

Just for ****s and giggles,

All you keep doing is talking crap about me, everytime something comes up you say I'm a fraud. Thats BS.

:D

My indirect indirect contact of a football player yesterday is better than your two week old direct contact at GTAA!

(not really, just having fun with this whole 'insider' thing, it's new to me after all, hehe)

Anyway, like I said above, what I was told seems to jive fairly loosely with what everybody else has already said, save a few details that may or may not be entirely true. I just hope the Thumper thing was off base - I really like him in PJ's system, and now is not the time to lose running backs.

 'know-it-all-showoff' --sheesh. ;)
Seriously, I did hear that last week, and from a source that Stingtalk would probably consider as or more reliable than the stuff in the OP. :)

beej67,
would be entirely happy with someone saying his info is suspect, because all anonymous internet info is and should be suspect

Beej, my insider info(straight from Beej67) says your insider info may be suspect.

I think that's more of an indictment of how much insider info I actually possess, besides of courses my magic 8 ball.

t

put it this way...he told me a week ago...if anything changes he sends me the update. Which means, since I have had no update on JE nothing has changed...that is how we talk...he is very prompt.

So...anyway...Evans is staying...take it to the bank as of today (like I said kids change their minds quickly)

Also...3rd party sources are not too trustworthy so don't get too carried away...otherwise you will become what you claim to despise.:laugher:

:) As long as I come out and say who my source is within reason, and acknowledge that internet sources by their very nature are untrustworthy, I will never become what I claim to despise. I'm not against 'insider info,' I'm for presenting it responsibly.

So back to the original question - do I get in the club now? hehe

"I hear that GT will be _______________________ next season --what have you heard on it beej67?"

GT65: Thinks it will take some time getting used to it --but should be able to adjust if beej67 is knighted as an insider.

"I hear that GT will be _______________________ next season --what have you heard on it beej67?"

I've heard the players are very optimistic about _____, but that some have reservations, and the bulk are taking a "wait and see" attitude towards _____ until the spring. Our coaching staff feel confident that we can _____ next year.

beej67,
can _____ with the best of them

I must have missed the Bennett to Boise thing.

Did he just have that much fun at the bowl game(s) there?

I think Bennet is from the area, plus, IIRC, he had actually committed to Boise St, before decommiting and coming to GT.

boise isn't possible for TB. He is a SR and would run out of eligibility sitting out.

Also he is from St Louis.

If taylor transfers its going to have to be at a school from a smaller division. That is assuming he graduates in spring. If he graduates...he is gone IMO.

Isn't there an exception to this rule?

If TB graduates this spring then transfers to a school which offers a graduate program not offered at tech he will not have to sit for a year and lose his eligibility. Anyone know for sure?

This has been said a bunch, but I guess you just missed it.

That rule is no longer in place. If he were to transfer to a D1-A school next year and hope to play, the only possible way would be to get a Hardship. Colin Peek is hoping to get one, maybe TB is hoping the same can happen for him.

Otherwise, he'd have to go to a lower division school. Besides, I wonder if he could even get PT at Boise St.
