Yea, we beat duke!

We are loaded with small guys folks. Duke had six guys at our ten yard line hitting our kick returner as we have no bodies to hit anybody.

And their Offense is now much bigger than our defense.

Sad to say but we are approaching army, navy, duke levels in recruiting.

Duke outranks us in every aspect. Beating them is a HUGE accomplishment for teams like us. We had no business even being within 20 points of them but we did.

They are still duke. I am happy with a win and we have a chance for a bowl game but there has been a steady decline of size and speed on the field. I know, I know...it will hurt our academic rankings.

Yep. They have better facilities, a higher commitment to winning, higher expectations, easier academics, Durham is way better than Atlanta, and their women are both hotter and sluttier.

HS recruits across the SE dream of playing in Wallace Wade in front of 20,000 snoozing fans.

We could win the playoff and the whole nation would be down according to you guys (the rest of the nation was kind of down in 1990 btw).

Notre Dame would trade places with us gladly right now.

You sure? They're beating Miami pretty soundly...

Not to be another downer though. Happy we won today and I enjoyed the game.

Yeah, I was referring to ND losing to Duke. Didn't know about the ND-Miami score.

My general point is I've seen ND, Duke, Vandy and Northwestern all held up as examples as "why can't we be as good as f'ing Duke." If you actually looked at those teams' results, there would be hell to pay for whoever was coaching us and had those losses, such as Duke's losses to UVA and Northwestern, who both lost to FCS teams.

The only example of a school with similar recruiting restrictions and has success anti-CPJ people expect is Stanford. But if anybody is honest, it's very difficult to recommend GT over Stanford if an academically-minded kid has a choice between the two. The same goes for recommending Vandy/Northwestern/Duke/ND over Stanford.

Which is why it is idiocy to run a system that further reduces the number of qualified recruits that would be interested in our school. Both O & D.

We are so smart we are stupid.

It's ok. You'll probably be ded soon

So you'd rather us run the same system as other teams, only with lesser athletes? Sounds like a solid plan for success.

Our offense is fine with the players we have. With a comparable defense, we'd be a perennial top 15 team. The problem is, our defense sucks. And I don't accept that the offense affects defensive recruiting. That makes no sense. Our defensive recruiting is bad because our defense sucks and who wants to play in an awful defense?

No matter how many times this is said, there are those fans who will refuse to believe it. Take the QB position: Almost no HS teams are running schemes similar to ours but plenty are spreading and flinging. So the System automatically reduces the number of QBs who'd be successful in our system, much less qualify for GT and actually want to come here. Fewer WRs will be attracted to a system that gives them 2-3 targets, max, per game. Etc etc etc.

But hey, "2014!!!!" - end of discussion.

Their OL wasn't that big. DL either

I disagree with this post. There are plenty of QB's to play in our system. We also get some pretty good WR's. Stewart and Jeune are pretty damn good. Lynch and Searcy are also pretty good catching the ball out of the backfield. We need to shore up the OL and DL. Our skill players are not a problem

I disagree with this post except for the part about shoring-up-OL-and-DL. That I agree with, but I don't think HS OLmen want to come here and dive at ankles for 4 years. Rival coaches use CPJ's scheme against us when recruiting players. Add that to our already-difficult recruiting hurdles and it's no wonder we have issues getting players to come here.

Some of y'all are dumb. I'll bitch about coaching but still this was an important win. We hadn't beaten Duke last two years plus it's an ACC win, and it means we still have a very slim chance to make it to the championship game. Also this was homecoming and a homecoming win should always be appreciated since some people lose to Vanderbilt on their homecoming. Stop being maggots.
