Just got this PM -

Hey,
I've been reading the boards for a while, and I notice you are on a lot, so I know you'll get this soon. I've signed up, but I can't get activated my an admin. I PMed one of them, but he hasn't responded, and I never seen him online, so I was wondering if you know which admin is on the most, so I can get activated. Thanks.

Do with it what thou wilt.

I had the same thing happen with me - I could register but activation never seemed to take hold... I figure the activation process is either a manual process by one of the admins or there's a mandatory waiting period (a la gun purchases) before your account is activated to keep the UGA hooligans out.

Same thing happened with me, I think it took about a week to get activated.

And any screen name with GSU or anything else in it was getting rejected.

I think it partly depends on what email address you provide the admins. I used my 'gtalumni.org' address and was approved right away.

I think I used my gte account, although if I ever needed to get back into it, I forgot the password. I didn't have any trouble getting approved to be on the board.

I came back from vacation in early Jan and found myself logged off. Like a dumbass I hadnt archived my password anywhere and thus had to fight through the prompts and have several of you pm the mods for me.

Finally got a gracious response from gtfan who had been out of the loop and said that 'storm was in Brazil trolling for split tails. He took care of the problem quickly, THANK YOU VERY MUCH GTFAN!!

If your problems last much longer try admin@stingtalk.com.

It took several attempts for me, but I finally emailed the admin and it was taken care of within 24 hours.

Yo mods, during the offseason consider putting all the posts together so we have more to talk about?

dismal BB means less moderation. Beestorm typically handles new user approvals.

I can say that stingtalk is more for the current users then potential current users.

Because we don't have a pecuniary interest new membership is a "when we get to it" situation. In football season that happens more often.

You just expanded my vocabulary.

Main Entry: pe·cu·ni·ary
Pronunciation: \pi-ˈkyü-nē-ˌer-ē\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin pecuniarius, from pecunia money
Date: 1502

1 : consisting of or measured in money
2 : of or relating to money

Does this mean Stingtalk will begin to die out as servers/software becomes obsolete? IE - no new updates to software / hardware not replaced when systems crash?

no, actually that is the reason we recently switched to vbulletin because it was easier to keep the software updated.

Well, I'll breathe a sigh of relief then. Heck, it wouldn't even bother me to see small ads on the board if it helps to keep things going (kind of like Facebook's ads - they're not emposing).

Any updates coming to allow posting from Windows Mobile devices? I was able to post with my Blackberry, but now I'm using a Moto Q9c with Windows Mobile 6.0.

Try a different browser, there are a few of them out there for WiMo 6. I use Opera Mobile on my Omnia with WiMo 6 and I works fine.

As for vBulletin updates, check out this site.
