We always called it a wasp nest or yellow jacket nest. Honeycomb was for breakfast.

How else to describe it then? Hexagonal yellow jacket nest pattern? Gimme a break ya anal retentive biotches.

When i see a wasp nest on the eave of my shed, honeycomb doesn't enter my mind.

I think I like the helmet too. But not for every game.

No honey, not a honeycomb. Call it a hexacomb if you must. You rarely see a yellow jacket nest in nature. They are usually underground.

southern yellowjackets are vespula. However, they often nest aerial also. is it really a big deal?

Dolichovespula species (for example, the aerial yellow jacket, Dolichovespula arenaria, and the bald-faced hornet, Dolichovespula maculata) tend to create exposed aerial nests (a feature shared with true hornets, which has led to some confusion as to the use of the name "hornet").
Vespula species, in contrast, build concealed nests, usually underground.

I would rather see the hexagons painted in the endzone like Tennessee's checkerboard pattern than on the helmets. Just my personal opinion. I like the helmets the way they are.

i think we should rip off Miss states end zone with #

#yellowjackets
#gojackets

get that ---- trending

No. No.

No "hexacombs", honeycombs, or anything derivative.

No pound signs or hashtags either. Every idea in this thread is bush league for a school of our tradition and stature. The fact that these ideas were partially inspired by VPI's turkey feet is telling.

"this case reserved for the national championship trophy"

kids these days dont give a ---- about tradition. they want to look good. i'm not saying we should do it for the season but for a once a year special uni i think it would be cool.

I don't get it. Why would vpi use Michael J. Fox's arrow drawings on their helmets?

This board must be hypersensitive to Parkinson's, but I thought this was a $ post! Bravo!

On a side note, they could still be mini helmets, perhaps they're having a puppy bowl at halftime of that game featuring their veterinary school or something...you never know. Those hokies are crafty.
