Listen up people.

Paul Johnson is DOING IS HIS JOB. And well too, considering the circumstances.

What really is his job description: be motherf*cking good on OFFENSE, and as a mentor to athletes, and let the D-Coordinator take care of the Defense.

Why he's done a great job: 08 know knew how to stop us, we had NFL guys on D. 09 Jonathan Dwyer, and AA were great and the ACC including Clemson just sucked. To fix defensive struggles he did the RIGHT MOVE to hire AL GROH. The prestigious defensive mind. That would've solve everything but..........
Our Defensive Players were busts!
(ESPN-09)
JC Lanier 24th best DT: BUST
Izaan #28 DE: BUST
Watts #50 LB: BUST
Sweeting #27 S: BUST

(ESPN-10)
Johnson- #39 S: Not a bust
Holton- #23 S: Hasn't played so Bust
SHAWN GREEN: #24 DT: BUST
Denzel McCoy #27 DT: BUST
A.Williams #53 DE: BUST
L. Young #27 CB: Not a bust
RYAN AYERS #15 CB: The hell happened to him?? BUST

-The one who plays for Notre Dame and is really good
-Initials: S.T. :turbonoes:

-Now imagine if these guys hadn't been such busts. We'd have a GREAT TEAM combined with Groh's schemes.

So the real problem is Georgia Tech football's defensive ASSISTANT COACHES.

Look at our offense, we don't have top tier talent but we have Great coaches who DEVELOP them.
Vs. our Defense which has decent recruits and our ASSISTANTS- don't develop them at all.

You say blame it Groh? He didn't get to choose his assistants. Pajamas gave him old Navy guys, and I mean no disrespect for them but they haven't done a good job at DEVELOPING the defensive players.

To Do List:
  • Start fresh on Defense
  • Fire the linebacker and DL assistants
  • Get some better coaches
  • Hire a young firey DC
  • Let him pick his staff.
  • Possibly keep Charles Kelly for DBs

On offense:
  • We'll have V.Lee and JT
  • The young O-Lineman are good but YOUNG
  • Lamar Owens does a great job, let him coach the B-Backs instead of Bohannon
  • Keep Bohannon at QB… He developed TEVIN people, TEVIN

In short, there was nothing wrong with Groh. And Kelly just isn't a good D-Coordinator. But had Groh gotten to choose his assistants we would actually be raving about his "Year 3"

wouldn't call shawn green or a williams a bust yet... Like to see them in a 4-3 defense first.

I just don't think there are many top notch high school players that want to prepare for the NFL one day by practicing against our offense throughout their college careers....If they attend a school that runs an NFL offense, you would have to think they would get better pro ball preparation. Think this issue is told to prospects during their recruitment?

Watts is not a bust. Sweeting and Cross are not busts either if Isaiah Johnson is not a bust.

Listen up people.

Paul Johnson is DOING IS HIS JOB.

Congrats. Just when I thought posts couldn't get more stupid than some of them that I have read, you come up with this gem!

2 consecutive losing seasons by a coach making a salary in the top 3 in the league? That's not doing your job by any measurement.

So his job is not to field a winning football team? Head coach means a lot of responsibilities and that includes special teams, defense, and recruiting. I will agree that he's a good offensive coordinator though.

You realize we were 8-5 last year, right?

Factually incorrect. We had a winning season last year, but 2 out of 3 losing seasons isn't doing your job when you get 3 patsies, one of which beat us.

I know you've been corrected already but how does one just conveniently forget last season? By the way, it should be 'thebuzz' instead of 'dabuzz'. Grammatically incorrect. Incorrect is a theme with you.

Our secondary not named Jamea Thomas is a bust the size of Pandora Peaks.
Watts is not a bust. TJ Barnes is. Cross ... More like a 34B. Not a big bust, but a bust nonetheless.

Our LB corps isn't that bad. Inconsistent, but not bad. Our DL and DBs, though, need big help and Saturday's fiasco reinforced/exemplified that.

In reality, 8-5 is the same as us going 7-5 during the Chan Gailey era. Yet, some of those who accused him of mediocrity aren't doing the same thing now.

I don't think they practice against th 30 on defense.

I think TJ was not coached up in the "attitude" dept. At his position, at his size, he could have been as good as any NG we played against. Maybe this is a problem with our D players having to go against guys recruited to play the TO. IDK

The OP did not mention ST. Big bust.

CPJ is the CEO. He hired Groh. Unless he was forced to hire this specific person, then CPJ is, still, the biggest problem.

He gets the big $ - then he gets the big props and the big failures.

I don't think they practice against th 30 on defense.

No, but they practice against 260 lb. linemen and 180 lb. running backs and a qb (Dickey) who doesn't pass. The offensive coaches who set up the scout team aren't well schooled in the intracacies of other offenses, so the D probably doesn't get to practice against a reasonable facsimile of our opponent.
