Fine by me. Solid D-coordinator. It's not like there are that many great recruiting young up-and-comers out there that no one has ever noticed before. As a DC I'd rather get a proven guy than a wildcard candidate that might make the defense only marginally better or maybe even worse.

A young up-and-comer might be a better prospect, but might also be a no win for us in the long run. If he makes a positive impact, he might move on to a bigger program or take a head coaching job. If he's terrible, we'll be right back where we started. An older guy that has already experienced being a head coach might be ready to settle into a long term arrangement. Also, I've always believed that our offense doesn't need a great defense; just a fundamentally sound and consistent one. The big question will be how he would he work under CPJ.

Don't think it would be the best choice. Not near as good as BVG.

But all that being said I think CCK is the DC. And I don't think that is a bad thing necessarily. Not sure a really good DC would come into a situation when the HC, I am afraid until proven wrong, will be on a very hot seat this time next year. Hope I am wrong, but the TO is not going to get it done against big time competition.

Man I hope we do not get embarrassed in El Paso. Gonna have to play out of our minds.

CPJ needs a DC who can operate like a head coach with little oversight.
